My neighbor is having a auction tomorrow and there is a table full of traps. I am curious what these are. They would look great on my wall.

Thank You, Scott

the front one is a #1 Sta-Kawt, The next one looks maybe hand forged?? looks like some Northwoods in the back ground and maybe some older Victors.

Thank you for the information. Hopefully I can buy a couple. There are some triumph also. If it is hand forged is that a good thing?

Not so sure that is handforged. Not my area of expertise but I'm thinking European.
Listen carefully to the auctioneer when they do the traps. Sometimes they say choice and how many you gotta take. You might end up buying a bunch of $3 traps for $10 each just to get the one you want.

On the other side of that, If you get choice at $2 to $3 each, Just step right up and take them all!!!! grin

I agree with DiggerDale. I don't know how auctions go in that area. Dale is right that trap might be European and the value I have no idea. But there are some good user traps in the background the way it looks. Don't get caught up in the auction tell yourself what you are willing to pay and stick with it. The auctioneer might auction the traps off by choice or they might auction the whole works one price or by the piece. Good luck.

I think that they will do choice a couple times and then sale the rest. It is easy to get caught up in the action and pay to much. I'm mainly interested in a couple wall hangers but if the price is right. You can never guess how a auction will go. Thank you.

The one backroadsarcher thought might be hand forged is definitely European. It looks very similar to a Grell made in Germany. I've seen them sell in the $50 - $85 range.

I bought the sta-kawt and bid the other one up to $39 and it sold for $40. Most of the user traps were pretty rough so I didn't bid on them.

well you got one of them anyways. You never know auctions sometimes it is a good place to buy but most times not. I see a lot of traps every year on auctions but don't purchase many because they usually go to high. Congrats on the 1.
