I use half inch rebar 30 in. long.weld a washer 18 in from 1 end, attach dp with a swivel ,drive in the ground, use a hagz bracket and slip the dp stake in it on the remaining 12 in.dp is horizontal and shielded from the elements coon pulls the dp out the bracket easily.prevents most small critters from stealing bait.I put trap about 10 in. up. Interesting, Have you used this system alot? Have you ever lost any coons using it? The reason I ask is I have had coons get my rebar stakes pulled a few inches and got the traps external springs hooked up on the stake, stopping the swiveling and causing them to twist out.

We had great luck with golf balls for covers last fall.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

just came up with idea Jan last season have not used it a lot .will use it a lot more this year.no problems at all.I prebait at home .put pvc plug in to contain the bait and remove when the trap on the bracket.very quick !brackets all fell down to the washer.for this year Im putting a bead of weld at top of stake to prevent any from coming off.

I can usually find a piece of dead bark to lean over top of dps to keep rain out, then lure on under side of bark.
