Good for you get em all!!

Our season starts on the 21st and I’m setting for coyotes because a farmer friend of mine had 6 sheep killed this summer by coyotes!!

I don’t trap because I want to
I trap because I have to

Thanks for the positive responses! And to the negative, I will be the first to admit that this coyote will not bring as much money now as he would in nov. or dec. however, I do know when coyotes become worth catching in my area. Just like 10bands said, and based on my exprience in previous years, this coyote has a decent fur that could bring me 50 or 60$ pretty easily which is well worth catching as far as I am concerned.

If there's something wrong with catching a $50 coyote I guess I should turn loose 75% of the coyotes I catch.

nice catch...alittle early but catch them when you can.trapping gets harder as the snow and ice gets here. not much of trap circle, do you use drags?

Yep the snow and ice definitely makes it hard later on. I use drags sometimes this one was staked though he just probably hadn’t been there very long when I got to him.

Good for you. I talked myself into waiting until after elk season. That started today, I don't know why I continue to hunt them, it is a lot of self induced misery.

who are you selling to?

Takes a brave soul to post a picture of an early coyote on Oct 9th, knowing full well the bickering that would follow. Lol. I have been trying to convince myself to make some sets, just can't do it yet though. For me personally, I just don't think they have enough weight to them yet and the weather here looks like it's going to make access difficult either way if I start now or in two weeks. If I gotta bust my butt irregardless I'll wait to get after just a bit longer. Good job on the harvest though!

The brave soul was wissmiss. First thing he says is "pretty male". Maybe she was trying to be educational instead of throwing up endless platitudes. I knew she was going get flack from the 94 percent.

I'm with you, Marten Ted! I can't start until October 15th, but I will be setting some steel that day, fully prime or not. I just want to start trappin'!

When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

X2

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....
