Hunting was good in Licking County in years gone by. Some of the guys with the days hunt. Photo taken in front of Farquhar & Steinbaugh Hunting & Fishing Supplies, Newark, Ohio, in 1938.

Here in Kentucky fox hunters never actually killed the fox. They just got up on top of a high mountain and listened to the dogs run.

Most people that I knew didn't bother skinning them … there was a bounty $2.50 to $5.00 bounty for the 4 feet up to the 1960s. You always got half what they paid for the reds for the grays.

I was personal friends of these guys and George that owned the store … George took out a photo album one day and this photo was in the back … he let me take it and made a copy of it.

Says the picture was taken 80 years ago.

Nope all gone … most were somewhat older than my dad and he has been gone for 20 years.
