OK google black belts and mariner gurus of T-Man - I need help finding a gasket and flange for the gas tank-vent hose connection of my boat. The hose barb is seized onto the flange and gasket is dry rotted. Getting a little leakage around the fitting and fume build up in the cab of the boat is enough to cause a headache.

Don't have the dimensions, but if anyone has a link to find these parts I'd appreciate it. I can search out the right size. Boat shops I've talked to on the phone haven't been able to help much.

Also - worst case I'd just slap all this back together with some sealant. What's the best fuel gasket sealant? Was looking at Permatex products.

Any help appreciated

Needed pieces - gasket and hose barb

Vent hose connection on poly tank.

Why can't you just make a new gasket out of gasket paper? That's what I would do and just reuse the barb.

Definitely an option Finster. BUT...the barb is seized into the flange fitting, and is not coming out without it breaking, trust me...I tried with a vice and a cheater bar on a pipe wrench. Problem is the 4th bolt hole is right under the barb with not enough clearance for anything but a tiny pair of needle nosed pliers. Was a real pain to even get off, let alone retightened. Might have to get creative and fab up a wrench out of a piece of flat bar.

Can you redrill the holes in the flange at a better location. Inland Marine in Nampa is good for repairs and parts like that.

Good grief caldwellite. What are you doing proposing a simple common sense solution like that??? I was hoping this would grow into something that would justify needing to buy a spoolgun.

I'll look up Inland Marine. Sent a bunch of pics to various marine places today, we'll see if I get any replies. Darned thing came from somewhere.

Appreciate the input.

Toss a propane torch on that barb. It will come loose. Put the barb part in a vise, hit it with fire, grab a pare of channel locks and unscrew it..... Why make these things difficult? grin
