how do you guys find the beaver dens when there is no hut.... around here, tons of beaver but no huts, all bank dens. there is always a huge bunch of corn stalks in an area. is that the den?

It doesn't matter to me where it is, as long as I find fresh sign.
I will set near the sign as well as make my own......like fake slides and fake feed beds.
I never set near a den when I do find one, since it will spook them if they find their kin DOA near the entrance.

I have caught many, many beaver. I do not need to know where the den is until I can't catch the beavers away from den. By then, I am usually down to the last beaver, so I don't need to worry about spooking the entire colony by trapping the last one at the den.

Like noted above ...no need to waste time looking for the Hut....just set pinch points in waterways...or where they are pulling out of the water...crossovers on the dams ...look for piles of shinny chew sticks in the water aka Cafeteria ,and set there too. Remember...beaver lure is your friend.

Should be a den along the bank some where with what look's like a brush pile right next to the bank. With the beaver in this county, that's how they set up. Myself, I look for the dens, so I know where most of the activity is and locate the holes away from the den, where they are showing activity. I'll trap the den but only when I'm down to the last one or two and the landowner wants them all gone.
