Novatrapper that's a nice bear and good looking family. I used to hunt in Trurro with a guy named Bill Meekins. He is the one that got me into trapping at the age of 50 and I love it. Have you ever heard of him. I learned a lot from him. Now that I think of it I will call him tonight.

Great job. Snaring is something I have not done for bears but look forward for ontrying it.

The name doesn’t ring any bells but my wife’s uncle lives and hunts up that way so I will check with him.

Nice bear. I am trying out foot snaring for the first time. What snare do you use? I have the sauvageau bucket style. My method is to bait with cameras out and make sure there are no cubs coming in, then drop the snare. Bait went out saturday, and waiting now. Do you run multiple baits?
Hutch I use the savageau m15 snares. Our limit is two bears snared here so I run two sets.I will usually bait and put a camera up to see what’s around before I set the snare. I’ve had the best results putting the snare and bucket about 40 inches up a tree and put it sideways than most times the bear will sit down and stick his paw In. Just don’t put too much bait in the bucket, because you want him to spring the snare the first time he reaches in. Best of luck!
