Support collar is whammy, right? If so, why would u not want to use a whammy? What advantage to not use it ? I prefer to make an S bend in the support wire, it holds the loop securely. This makes it easier to turn the loop so it is going up of down hill. Like on top of a ground hog den or up a ditch embankment. But when the critter goes through I get it, usually. Some guys use surgical tubing. I’m sure someone smarter than me will explain it better.

Even the raire walking line.36 snares/extension cables and support wire fit in my nail apron along with plyers and cable cutters. Can you carry all this and have your hands free ?

Yup I can Newt, cause I do the same thing as you. I learned the inverted S from Ron. Loop stays right where I put it. I need to get over to your school! But I’m just a novice compared to what you’ve forgotten about snaring!

But ADC, you make only 1 set over and over, out of your truck.Your method works for Iowa roadside snaring. Sure would not work on my snare lines 80% of the time.

Well If your getting to much movement with plastic whammies then your whammies don't fit your system.
The ISD of my gas line hose Is 3/16ths. By time It's slid on the 1x19 cable and then when my support wire Is Inserted It's a perfect match. The problem with plastic It's way to hard and to slippery. It just doesn't bind up well and with rubber you have some give as you insert the support wire. You don't have that with plastic.
And I can't see how anyone could use those little curly cue wire whammies They are just plain aggravating In my opinion.
