Pretty awesome resource. My brother in law is part owner in the company so it's been interesting seeing them grow from the Hunting GPS Maps days. A lot of the landowner data is limited by the county and town records, but that being said, the app is a great tool even without landowner data. For instance, Maine has very poor landowner data - most is maintained in small town offices and tax maps are often a decade or two old and scribbled in pencil. So I figured the OnX Hunt app wouldn't be much use for me up here. I downloaded the $30 app for my phone and find i use it almost every day, whether I'm scouting, fishing, hunting, trapping or searching for parcels of land for farming or forestry reasons.

One of my goals this trapping season is to use my phone and the OnX Hunt app to essentially take the place of my GPS on the trapline. Still learning, but I think it is very feasible. The huge benefit here is that all your data (tracks, waypoints, etc) are backed up to the OnX web app when you get into cell service, so you never need to download waypoints or tracks, and don't have to worry about losing data. You also have the info at your fingertips anytime without having to dig out your GPS.

I'll be working some with OnX in the future to help promote the product to trappers, and hopefully promote trapping to the hundreds of thousands of hunters who use the product. In November they will be releasing the first of three articles I'm writing to help introduce trapping to hunters who might be interested in taking it up. Should be fun!

I got it for waterfowl hunting in a couple different counties west of me. The landowner data on one of the counties is mostly incomplete. I was very disappointed.

Great app to have for trapping been using it since it first come out, but sometime the the last few months they got rid of the layer that showed the BLM road and trail numbers as well as any restrictions on them so a guy would know if he is on a legal road or trail. That is a pretty big deal for me around here since the last couple years the BLM has implemented there new travel management plan and closed a lot of roads and trails that have been there for years. I found a different app called BaseMap that has most of the same features and does include BLM and forest service road and trail information.

I知 on the 7 day free trial. It pretty dang good.for a state forest,onX might have it colored blue or green compared to the regular satellite view. Is there anyway to turn the colored overlay off? I知 1000 miles from home in Wisconsin and onX is the deal. I値l be buying it for Wisconsin and NC!

You can turn it of...hit the map layers icon, this will bring up all the layers, look for public hunting layer, it will state that it痴 on, push it and it will show off...I use the layer on when I知 looking for new areas, once I find the public land I turn it off to get a better view of the land....

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......

I have trouble finding boundary痴 on private lands open to public use. I have not found a map yet that shows them all. I知 hunting a private land open to public now that butts to a waterfowl reproduction area but can稚 find a map showing it. It痴 clearly marked on three sides and dnr pointed out the other for me. Would this app help with that. Does anyone know how current the maps are? Think I値l check it out later. Thanks....Shane

When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

My friend's dad has it in upstate NY. He says it's accurate and he can map out a path from one place to another (like 25 miles away) and know who owns what along the way, then figure out how to get there on his four-wheeler.
