Soooooo..... if you happened to accidentally think that your flake type trap antifreeze was sodium benzoate instead of the calcium chloride that it actually is, and mixed it with some smashed up smelt thinking you were preserving it, what should a person do? I put about a cup of it in to about a 1/4 gallon of fish paste. Online says it can be used as a preservative, but can't find any instructions on use.

You will probably be alright but it might be a bit dry as CaCl is used to keep pectin and other materials from breaking down so glycerin might be needed. Just keep an eye on it.

It's been warm out the last two days here and it appears to still be relatively fresh, not rotten smelling, so I'm hoping it'll be ok. First time trying to make my own bait.
