Loosegoose I've been an auto tech for 29. He never said what the code was other than an EVAP code.

The shop Say it one of two things, say mostly likely solenoid, I believe, say if not want to get fixed now, that it really does nothing except for emissions an cause my check engine lite to be on, I would put in but considered well have trouble with something, the way the vid shows

Jesse, I didn't mean to imply that you were wrong, sorry if that's how you took it. Just that it's not a typical cause that I've seen. It seems different areas of the country see different issues sometimes. When I was in Illinois, I used to replaced rusted out fuel and brake lines literally every other week, did tons of jobs where every single line got replaced. Used to do fuel pumps every week too. Since moving back to Nebraska, I've probably done 5 brake lines in the last 5 years, and maybe a couple dozen fuel pumps. I do a lot of wiring issues though. Part of that comes with the territory of building police cars, but I do lots of non-aftermarket wiring repairs too. coonman, it sounds like your shop is guessing at the cause of your problem if they're saying it's most likely a vent solenoid. They should be able to say definitively one way or the other. But yes, EVAP codes wont affect gas mileage. The EVAP system keeps fuel vapors from leaking to the atmosphere, it's an emissions control system is all.
