I have to process a deer this morning that has been hanging since Friday and then I’m going to go put a few coyote traps out, run a short line while I’m here at camp.

you need a place to put anything or need anything Lugnut just holler.stove is already a rollin in the new workshop and i don't see me going anywhere in this crap.i'm lucky to have the time to wait.

Snowing this morning. I got a few sets out, going to put more out later on today. It actually is sticking too, at least for now.

Hanging out in your shop with the wood stove going sounds great, I’m not feeling the urge to string steel in this crap either. I have to run to Sharon Center for some homegrown eggs after we get done processing this deer, might stop over then.

Put out 9 coyote sets on the property for a start. Had a good dusting of snow till about 11am. Thank god for wax dirt or would have been sifting mud.

Can't figure out how to post the pics I got today on this tablet. But got a okay size coon (released) and coyote. Coon was in a flat set and coyote was in a dirt hole.

Caught 2 coons this morning in my yote sets. Hoping tomorrow is better for the canines.

Still waiting for a buck to show up. The rut should start to pick up soon. Might be able to put 10 muskrats on the boards this year with all the sign I’ve been seeing , that would be a new record for me

Waiting a few weeks for fur to prime a little. Not holding out for better weather........that would be like searching for a honest politician.

i've already picked up a extra bale of peat moss when i was to town the other day.

I got 3 on Sat at Lowe's they were 50% off. so I dried it out in the garage and stored 2 can never have enough peat trapping in this state's weather.

i had my usual 2bales,3garbage cans,but also saw a good deal and like you said about our weather.

Now I know fur isn't anywhere near prime. Caught a whistle pig. That's ok though, they need to go too.

Last night must of been possum night out got 3 of em and a large coon. Let the coon go fur had nice color to it but not keeping them till after buck season and only if there jumbo size. All three possums I caught on flat sets witch just wrecked them. Put New sets in about 5 feet away so hoping for a yote or two in the next day or two.

Are the possums prime?

all rock underneath him i bet,shocked how dry it is here for as wet as it has been.still starting with peat though i think.

Pcr2 is right nothing but rock. Most of my locations are old strip jobs or gas well roads very rocky stuff, so i have to predrive most my earth anchor holes with a 8lb sledge and harden spike I made. Was very blonde after a good bath. I also started with peat this year and if not in old strip job ground some wax dirt as well. Ground isn't as bad as I thought it would be with all the rain top layer doesn't sift for crap. I just walk off 20 ft or so and dig down to some what decent dirt to sift over top my set.

Well nothing today in the sets.

Possum fur can be really pretty. I kept some of the nicest ones last year and got em tanned.

Possum, Possum and more possum! They are driving me up the wall!!! I swear the devil created them just for trappers!

Always gotta thin them out every year for the first week then the good fur starts getting caught.

I'm going back to 5 to 6lb pan tension since I'm only targeting coyotes but I swear they know there's a trap there and jump up and down on it just so they get the chance to see a trapper cry lol.

I think a fellow could do good on coon , just by getting roadkills, seems there's one ever 100 yrds...

i can make 20 dollars profit on 18-20 big ones every year selling tanned.

i wanted to set today but as a noreaster moves in i remember its a long season a little better.too much rain in my forcast yet but after the rut or i shoot a deer it will be time no matter the weather.good luck.

we are almost at 3 in since last night.son and i made the best of it and each got a turkey and a pair of pheasants.

I hope somebody in my part of pa is getting yote like you are Hammer. I won't set 'till after deer season, mostly just to get rid of some 'coons, 'possums, and a few fox pelts and a fisher to hang on the wall.

I'm hoping the rain let's up some sets are still working if they investigate em. Just seems like on the rainy nights they just cruise past the sets. But gotta work with momma nature not against or she will win 100% of the time.

I put out 6 sets on opening day just to say I'm trapping. The rains came and my dirtholes were completely full of water. Instead of re-baiting, I just stuck a straw down the hole so if a fox wants anything to eat he can suck it in through the straw and not drown. I'll wait till this slop dries up before I put out much of a line.

Gets a mud mask and a free meal haha one spoiled fox. This rain does suck I set most my sets on higher points to avoid puddles building up at or near the set.

I was wondering if some of the trappers that don’t always skin, flesh, and stretch out, if they just throw a whole coon, possum, etc in the freezer without a bag or anything to cover the animal.

I skin all my catches out the day they are caught. But I'd just throw them in a bag to keep your freezer clean.

Can't wait to see what muddy messes are waiting in the sets today.

Little muddy but got a good clean catch and safe release.

A couple coon I pulled out of a dairy farmers manure pit. 6 coon and 3 possum. There is still 2 coon, 1 possum, and 5 cats still in there. I tied my snare pole to a pull saw handle and was able to reach down and pull them out. I didn't get the cats cause I didn't want to hurt'em to bad.

I did finnaly get a decent coon going through a stream pipe set yesterday in a 220.

Bet that was a fun day.

After all this rain think I might just freshen up some sets. Here are some baits and lures I've been using.

It was fun! But my Arms were Jell-O afterward from trying to maneuver a 16 foot pole over a coons head.

I couldn't imagine. Did you skin any of them out yet how they looking? I'm still letting the ones that get in my coyote sets go.

No not yet hoping to get more sets out this weekend the 13 I got out are all about catch circle remakes so need to get some fresh sets in near them. I try not to run more then 20 sets anymore than that it's hard to keep up with them working 10 to 12hr days. Got a nice yote and some fox today.

Thanks you been having a great season so far. I'm with ya on the rain had enough. It's hard to tell on the first pic I posted but that female bent the crunch proof swivel above my shock and bent the spring pins on my 550.

Have had a lot better seasons in the past but also had more time to run more then a dozen or so sets and again this rain this year is way worse then the pass seasons. She must of been a fighter i,'ve never had a crunch proof bend have had plenty of bent spring pins tho.

The little one got to see some action checking the traps with me today.

got a question, in the pa state parks some of the roads they say are closed off after deer season, do they actually close the gates or do they just not maintain them in winter

Gates will be closed & locked.

Getting any sets out soon pcr2 i think the rain is here to stay for another 2 weeks.

not yet but sooooooon,can't take it much more but when it's pouring on already saturated ground.will slowly get going this weekend i believe.

This weekend looks like it might be a ok one to get sets out.

Didn't sale any but went and picked up more number 3 Dogless Bridgers at the fur buyer I go to had a coyote with me that I caught that day he said done up nice 30$ to 35$. Red fox 15 to 20 on the heavy

Picked up another coon today. And set 10 MB 550 for Coyotes and Fox. Have Coons all over ,nobody traps around here anymore. Do my trap check then going Bow Hunting. All week long.

Got four fresh sets out today now enjoying a clear night sky with a fire and few cold ones with the woman. Nice little break of the wet weather.

The rain will be back tomorrow and looks like a wash out on Tuesday.

Had 2 sets out for 3 days before I caught a nice female red fox yesterday. Planning on getting some more sets out this week.

Yup woke up to a poor down. Forecast looked nice for next weekend high of 37 low of 28. Hope that weather comes and stays.

I am just thankful the mink/muskrat season did not come in on Saturday. If it had my partner and I would most likely have been setting as I thought the forecast called for less than a half inch of rain. Right now everything is flooded big time. I know some canine trappers that could probably use a boat to check some of their traps today.

Picked up a grinner and red fox today. Nittany I hear you about the rain, it's getting old. I've made all my sets on high points and I know that limits some catches.

Not catching a whole lot. Supposed to have two more days with no rain!

Then cold can't wait.

Had a small coon and a dig out assuming it was the coon that dog it out then got caught in the flat set across from it. Hoping next week to have better results and more pics for you guys. Best of luck out there everybody.

Picked up a red last night thought they was exctinct in my part of PA. Couldn’t figure out how to post pics.

Come to my part they breed like rabbits. Like possums and coons they always find the coyote set first.

I love catching them. Prob would have let it go being population is so low but foot was pretty tore up. Bridger 3 dogless ain’t to friendly on young fox!

Was a cold check today pulled 10 of the 13 sets I had out. They were all the sets that I caught fur in. Going to get them pressure washed and rewaxed then reset next Saturday.

Not exactly tearing 'em up, but they look a lot nicer now without the mud.

Nice catches everyone. Work is crazy and I’ve only had 5 and now up to 8 traps out, checking before work at 4am and daylight on the weekends. I’ve caught a few fox and raccoon, but can’t post any photos from my phone, lol. One nice cherry red male I’m going to get mounted.
