Took the boys to a pumpkin patch today. Their prices were a rip off compared to other pumpkin patches. Didn't buy any there took them to a maize maze they got 3 little pumpkins for $5. Here's the prices on the pumpkins from the patch My youngest looks grumpy in the pic but he was having a blast.

Universitys will usually test your soil for free once per year. At least here in the MidWest they do. Can big time help you tailor your soil amendments.
Pumpkin farms hereabouts clear out their stock Thanksgiving week. 70% off down to free. Too late for Halloween, yet plenty of time for pie, soup, dehydrate, etc. I even feed cooked pumpkin to my dog.

adam most places that grow pumpkins don't have to irrigate them for 4-5 months. im sure that is why they cost more where you are
