Hey guys-just starting to get my stuff ready to do some coon trapping. What do you thin it out with so it comes out of a squeeze bottle easier.I am thinking just water-but maybe there is more to it?

Water will thin it out. A little goes a long ways!

I use fish oil to cut mine. Seems to work decent. Mine is mostly used as a trailing scent or just off the edge of trails

It'll separate so you need top shake it before use but it'll work IF you want fishy odors there. I have used it that way with good success but prefer no fishy smells for my trailing scents to help avoid non-target catches, specifically in DP trap situations.

I use it on the lip of the DP-I have found it better than fish oil-at least it tastes good as where fish oil doesn't.Thanks guys-I just couldn't remember whether it was water or something else.

Pancake syrup is what I use to thin mine down, or used fryer oil. Give it a shake and squirt.

I'd use an oil of some sort, preferably one not prone to go rancid. Maybe veget able or corn? That or some glycol. I wouldn't use water as adding water to super saturated sugars like honey/syrup/jams/jellies is how you start mead/wine.

The alcohol and amino acids might be a good thing. You ever seen a coon go to work on spent grains out of a mash barrel?

I see no reason to thin it. I never have anyway. Coons love it.

Imitation vanilla will do it and add some extra attractant. I also use imitation vanilla to make honey squirt out of the bottle.

When I used to try make home made lures, I always had trouble with thin an thick separate, well not mix well an separate on ground, glycol was said to be good to mix with fish oil, I try that an upon checking traps, I could clearly see the glycol seperate from fish oil on ground by pocket set on Creek bank, I then an now use glycerine, how much does cheap molasses cost ? This is giving me ideas, I wonder how would squirt or at all, from 16 oz, squirt bottle with a flip top that mixed with salmon oil ? Or smell? I not thinking that well squirt at all ? But sounding like good attractant, not sure how well do in freezing weather

Why waste time thinning the stuff. I go down to the local feed mill and one can buy a gallon about 9 lbs. for $2 or less. It's 20 cents a lbs.

Because when it’s cold enough outside, I don’t wanna be waiting on the molasses to squirt. Also, a pancake syrup bottle happens to be pretty useful for a squirt bottle, and it has a big hole to squirt out of. It doesn’t have anything to do with trying to save money or molasses. It’s just easier that’s all. Doesn’t take much effort to dump a little bit of molasses and syrup into a squirt bottle. A lot less effort than it takes to squirt straight molasses in a freezer. I get unlimited French fryer oil so once the syrup is gone, I use fry oil until the syrup bottle is shot, then I go buy another bottle of syrup for $1.

No around here. They want like $60+ for a 5 gallon bucket. Also I have bought it that was about as thick and pancake syrup and some so thick you could hardly squeeze it out of a milk jug with the lid off.

Well I guess I am fortunate. I use gallons of it to spread over lower quality hay to feed my beef cows. I will keep it at room temp in the winter but the stuff I get is about like syrup or a bit more liquid than that. I prefer it not so liquid, it stays where one puts it better and straight up has a lot more odor too.
