There's the best welder for the amount of money spent. Easy to use. Get a bottle of 75/25 argon CO2 mix gas for it and an auto darkening welding helmet,,, you'll be surprised how much you use it. Very easy to learn with minimal instruction, I bet you can google how to use it if you don't know anyone to take 10 min to show you.

X2 on the handler for getting started. The auto darkening helmet is a must. You can get metal cut off blades for your skilsaw too. That opens up lots of doors.

I bought a MIG Chicago Electric Welder over 25 Years ago at Harbour Freight that is still going today....Have had no problems...I don't think you can beat the Price for a Light duty Welder.

Most any mig outfit will have you welding for trapping in less than a day, it's not that hard, gas outfits do cost a bit more though. Lots out there that don't cost a bunch of dollars, but the gas hook ups are extra on all of them, unless your buying a used outfit.

Helmets are a personal thing to me any way, I've been welding for over 45 years now and never bought one of them auto helmets, I've tried them, but have always been flashed with them for one reason or another. Don't like the worry of being stuck without battery's for them either. Not worth the extra expense, one can learn just fine before spending them dollars for a auto helmet and still get by. Learn how to weld then decide if you need an auto for what your doing.

Earlier this fall I bought a 220v Chicago Electric welder from Harbor Freight. Just bought it to do trapping related stuff and other small projects. I did add a bottle of gas, I feel it welds much better with the gas. I'm impressed with the job it does. For $189 I didn't think I was out much if it didn't work out. It not for heavy duty use, but I didn't buy it for that.

I bought an eastwood mig 135 then an 80cubic inch bottle maybe its a80 cubic feet I don't remember but this little welder works amazing I can weld thin sheet metal up to 3/16th with one pass I have also welded 5/16th steel with a little preheating from the torch but for basic trap mod it is a great little unit and for the welder helmet and bottle of gas im into it for about 500 to 600 bucks. the bottle alone was 236bucks but I also bought the bottle instead renting the bottle. ive used the Hobart handler and there is not a thing wrong with that unit either just 200 bucks more for the welder itself. I was on a 600 dollar budget so I choose the eastwood 135.

If you buy a cheap welder (non-name brand) keep in mind parts are very hard, if not impossible, to find.

Yes but its an arc welder, so its a lot harder to learn and the welds are typically very messy.

Hard to learn, idk it's only thing I've used, I have used it as a cutting torch, wire feed can't do that?
I used Miller n Hobart stick welders to make and repair farm and well drilling equipment years ago

Don't buy harbor freight welders unless you like filling up the junkyards or dumps.

I started recently and got an Amico, The model I got does stick, TIG, and plasma cutting, and it's very fairly priced.

I'm about to go use the cutting feature and stick now, I haven't bothered with TIG yet.

+1 I have this same setup and it works great.
All you need for this one is a 20amp circuit, that you probably already have in the garage.
