Hey guys, will beaver often move out of a location for little to no reason? I’ve got a spot that I know hasn’t been trapped, and there is no sign of them this year. There’s still plenty of food for them, and they were in the area last summer. I went back today and found no fresh cuttings or peeled sticks. I did however find a couple of spots where something was climbing out of the creek and chewing on vegetation from the bank, but I’m pretty sure it might be muskrats. The plants were chewed off at around 6 to 7 inches high though. Thoughts? Thanks

Muskrats would have dug the roots of grasses, they do eat bark but thier little teeh are easy to tell from beaver amd the pull out width would have been the size of your 110 conis, 4 or 5 inches wide. Look for poop in the water, beaver poop are 1 to 1 1/2 inches around and they are round. Muskrats put raisons on logs and rocks.......jk

Thanks guys. There were no dams or lodges. I know it’s a little early, but the temperature has been getting down to 30 at night. Seems to me that they should be putting cutting into overdrive.

Thanks guys. There were no dams or lodges. I know it’s a little early, but the temperature has been getting down to 30 at night. Seems to me that they should be putting cutting into overdrive. I had a spot I was going to trap last year. Had a nice dam across a creek. When the season opened I went to the spot and the dam was half gone and no fresh sign. Like they had packed up and moved to another location. Odd - Dunno
