Looking for some feedback on the benefits for beveled edges on fur boards:
Is it preferred by certain buyers?
Does it help increase finished pelt size?
It is preferred on only certain animals? I.e.; mink?

Pelts are less likely to be damaged when they are baled together to be shipped overseas if beveled.

This My take on the subject.

Tapered edges leave the pelt edge a lot thinner on the edges then just a rounded edge. Can you get a damaged pelt that has a thinner edge?

I have some rat boards that have tapered edges. When I run out of rounded edged boards I use those. My experience has been that the hides are a lot harder to get off those kinds of boards.

I appreciate the feedback, I have a few that are beveled and noticed the majority of the high-quality boards I saw in Marshfield from Top Lot Stretcher were also beveled. I was going to make a router jig to do the rest but it doesn’t seem to advantage me in anyway.

I went out and looked at mine and they have a very radical bevel. It's about a 1" wide. Maybe a smaller bevel would be Ok. But I don't see any advantage.

All my stretchers I have made the edges are rounded, easily done with sand paper over the edge.

That's the way they should be.
