Great job. My trapping partner joined the Army after he graduated last June. Yours will absolutely never forget this.

I'm excited to see if you've got anything today. The look on your son's face is what it's all about. Good luck to the both of you. Looking forward to many more posts of your adventures together.

Looks like most the turds you found are white. Pretty normal down there huh? That seems to be the case up here. I always wonder how old they actually are -in other words how long it takes until they turn white. Sometimes it would be helpful to know if it was left 2 weeks ago, 2 months ago, 2 years ago, or whenever.

I actually wondered that for a long time and got an answer a couple years ago. Missed a cat by a couple feet 2 seasons ago. I had one trap at a toilet (lesson learned to gang set toilets) and the cat dropped a turd near my trap the night before I checked (had him on cam). The next two weeks was very cloudy and it rain lightly a couple times and the turds were that light blue, and almost white (what I use to to think was a month or two). By the next week (not as cloudy) it was white, and a couple weeks later when I pulled the trap the turds we chalky. Helped me realize how quick they turn and I can only imagine how quick they turn when it’s blazing hot, dry, and sunny. This wash has been washed out about a month before I found it. Now some of the turds could have been washed down from farther up, but the few turds near the tree would have been high enough to not get washed out so I know they visit this spot. Plus I don’t think they only poop at toilets. I’m sure some (just my opinion and have no proof) just pee. Haha or maybe that’s just what I tell myself to make me feel better haha.

No kidding? Thanks for sharing what you learned. Glad I asked.

Good luck out there you two! Hope you start connecting on those kitties.

Yup. Most of what these guys do in your type of country works Hermit. They seem to like the low washes. The years I called dogs a lot in the west I would unintentionally pull cats and they almost always came up out of wash bottoms.

If I may. I have always been told that white was a good thing.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

That white should clean up real nice. Beauty. We're it me I'd be skinning down as far as possible on those legs. I know it does not matter maybe in the furriers use but the more white a buyer sees period has to help.

Congrats to you fellows.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but for those who don't know, taking a cat of this size out is helping out the cat population in a big way. These big toms kill more bobcats than anything else. In this small area we are trapping we have caught a few big toms (42"+), a fair number of averaged sized toms (38"-41"), very few females (3 to be exact with the smallest being this 37" and the other two being 39" and 40" with zero ti tty bellies), and zero kittens. I would love to know how many kittens and smaller toms this guy has killed over the years. [/quote]

Nice job
Agreed
