A lot of folks got them there earlier.

But few of them had "quills....!"

Yeah the quills are the worst part of caribou. My boy is heading out to the Yukon North Slope today to see if there are any stragglers left down there. How are your other coastal herds doing in AK?

I was going to go up the Dempster and get a couple but a couple guys at church on Sunday told me they havent come near the highway on the Yukon side in the last couple of years. Anyone know how accurate that is??

There is very rarely ever any porcupine caribou along the Haul Rd. those caribou with in the 5 miles of the road are Central Arctic Caribou. Porcupine Caribou are much further east around Arctic Village, when non the south side.

The PCMB link I believe has a history of the colors you can look at. They were on the Dempster around the border all through August this year.

Check the link, you have to scroll down a bit to see the color info but yesterday they were right up along the haul road.
