Yup.

Smaller down, smaller payment and better rates.

The others required 10-20% down.
My buddy in the car business said ALWAYS ONLY put $500 down & every additional $500 reduces your payment by a few dollars. Sure enough Capital One took our $500 down and still had a better payment. He was coaching us while we were buying said car.

I usually use State Farm for auto loans unless the manufacturer and/or dealer is running some sort of very low interest promotion. I also use State Farm for my auto insurance and commercial auto policies so that may have something to do with the very competitive interest rates they offer me.

If there are any credit unions in your area that you are eligible to join, go there. I have never seen a bank that can compete.

I have not had many auto loans, but in the few I have had I have always got the best rate from a credit union. If you do not belong to one you have to open a savings account to become a member which is like $20 or so in your account.

With that said I use State Farm Bank for checking and have been very pleased with the service. I do have a current auto loan for my wife's vehicle and State Farm could not match the Credit Union rates.

I had so much trouble out of State Farm taking double payments each month I finally went with my Credit Union and beat their interest rate too. Will NEVER finance anything with them again. Tried two different vehicles with them.

Old enough to know better, but dumb enough to still try.

i drive a half hour by 5 banks to get to my credit union and worth every penny.
