I am interested in getting my first used skid steers. Advice needed - looking to spend under 10K if possible and want most diesel HP for the money. What about Bobcat 763s? Also prefer highflow auxillary.

Thanks,
Keith

I have had 3 cat skid steers and all were and are awesome machines. You pay a little more but you get it back when or if you sell them. I think you will have a hard time finding one under 10k without a ton of hours on it.

Bought a 773 with tooth bucket for 10k a few years ago. Can’t farm without one now. Also go a few snow removal jobs with it.

Get dedicated rubber tracks......Takeuchi makes a great machine.

I serviced my own but they are an awesome machine. Forerunner for dedicated rubber tracks. I was the first guy around here to run rubber tracks back in 2004 or so.

They are Jap made.

With winter coming I would go to a heavy equipment auction and get me a deal.

New Holland, Takeuchi, Gehl, and Case would be the brands that I would look for ( due to price parameters). All have certain models that are better or more reliable than others in their line-ups. For under 10K you will probably have a tough time finding a decent track machine. Low hours mean a lot, parts and repairs are really expensive for all brands so dont get one that is worn out thinking that you can rebuild it. Check Equipment Finder and Rock and Dirt equipment classified sites to get an idea of what to expect.

Bobcat makes an awesome machine. But they are a pain in the arse to work on any part of the engine. I love Bobcats and that's almost all i'll run but I would much rather drive a CAT if given the option, though they are a little more expensive. I'm not sure how other loader engines are to work on but bobcat sucks as far as maintenance.

I have heard good about Case 1845C and Bobcat 763s with the Kubota diesel motors. Locally, I have both dealers within driving distance. I have not seen a tracked one that I could afford.

Look around on www.tractorhouse.com and you'll find an almost endless supply of used machines. It'll will at a minimum give you an idea of what you can get for the money you want to spend.

under 10g's, Case 1840, possibly an 1845. great machines easy to work on, bullet proof engines, easy starters. If you will have frozen ground, forget the tracks. If you put tracks on an older machine you will have axle and bearing trouble. I believe the older Bobcats were good also I just never owned one. Hi flow auxiliaries are rare in older machines, regular flow will run 90 percent of attachments.

Look for a S-180 series Bobcat. We had a 763 and the Flow Hydraulics Sucked. We upgraded to the S-180 and it's night and day difference.

for 10k you will not get a tracked machine that aint worn out. I loved my case machine, now have a john deere that I really like. cat makes a great machine but they are pricey.
yu didn't say what you are going to be using it for. if you only need a smaller one you should easily be able to get into a nice one for 10k. if your farming or lifting heavy stuff it will be a little harder. my advice is unless you are only using for plowing or light duty work make sure you get one rated bigger than anything you think you might pick up. it really sucks doing work with a machine that is even a little bit undersized, not to mention not safe.

How are the New Hollands? I am not opposed to them. I will be lifting bales, sawing trees, pushing dirt, building fence. digging stream crossings. Honestly, I will likely use it for more than I know now......

Wont get much for 10k. Something small and worn out for that price.

I'm a Cat fan. The controls for driving on one stick/ bucket control on the other stick.
Takeuchi's are also good machines most times.
