It's been brutal here. Just set out a water line Saturday and had a decent catch Sunday with 7 coon, 7 rats and 4 mink that must have gotten in shortly after dark. Then the rain started. Sunday all sets were flooded and we had a mix of snow (sometimes blizzard) and rain. t was soaked to the skin by the time I was finished. Monday produced only 1 coon, 1 mink and 3 rats. The rats came from a small farm pond, the mink and coon from feeders I set. The only areas producing now are the small feeder creeks and they go up and down 6" each day with the monsoon rains. Tomorrow should be another slow day with the all-day rain today. Going to be a tough week to be on vacation. On the bright side, I have no problem keeping up with the skinning. HA.
57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

I'm glad I don't have any traps out right now. Would be not just mud pies but frozen mud pies.. Going try run few fisher traps this next week before deer season. Not real enthused right now though. Did go out on the river Wednesday morning shoot a couple ducks.. was skim ice on puddles and some shallows.

Cable, I think you killed them all last year! It just takes a while for them to grow back the numbers. No big loss though, what are you seeing for fur pricing? Do you put them all up?

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Eagle eye that's awesome!!! Congratulations what a prize. How long did you apply for the tag? Thanks- I believe I had 9 pts going into 2018, the information I received with my tag said 6-7 pts are starting to draw tags. We have been releasing cats every year in our yote sets, the population is healthy but the Warden that put on my CITES Tag said it can be cyclical?
