A neighboring farmer I worked for in high school told me once that he needs the cats around his farm more than he needs the hunters. He always kept his land open to hunters, but if he knew someone shot one of the cats they not be welcomed back.

Cat bites me, cut off head goes to lab. If farmer wants to boot me for that, goodbye sir.

Yah, I'm sure this guy was talking about hunters shooting cats that have bitten them crazy

Before I even started trapping a local place the manager asked me if I’d run his live trap line while helping out one day. Of course I would. Well the second trap had a kitty cat (housecat), me being an owner of a housecat called him up and told him we’d caught a cat. His words were hide it so it can’t be seen but the buzzards can find it. He said if I wasn’t up to it he’d just have his wife come back later and handle it. So me not wanting to disappoint figured I’d just get kitty Tom outa the trap and put it in my jacket to keep warm while I ran the rest of the line and then take it home with me to discuss its future.
Let’s just say I quickly learned the difference between a housecat and feral cat! There weren’t enough bullets in the gun for me to exact revenge on that demon from heck!!! The manager heard the shooting and called...he said, “You thought you’d release it didn’t you?” I learned then why he says if it has 4 legs and isn’t a deer, squirrel, or rabbit, it dies!!

This is just plain stupid.

Good. I hope your son has no lingering effects from the cat bite.

Great news.
