Anybody have recommendations? Looking for boots that are comfortable to walk in yet warm while sitting with temps down to zero or so. Looking at the Schnees line up, they are expensive, about at the top of which I would like to spend. Anyone have experience with these or others that you like?

Thanks, Zim

I recommend Hoffman's. I bought a pair 2 years ago and they're holding up good.

I have two pair of ranger pac boots, luv em. Just make sure that you realize the temp ratings are for constant walking not for sitting for hours in the cold.

Rated for -40 or less will work well for sitting in the teens. If you sweat getting to where you will sit then put on dry socks.

I've had a pair of Lacross Iceman for about 20 years. I've been happy with them.

I’ve tried just about every known boot out there to keep my feet warm without success so I bought some arctic shield boot covers for my boots. They are the best to keep my feet warm. Can’t walk in them but carry them to your stand then put them on. I put them in my pack.

Yes they are good. The can be rebuilt if they start to wear from soles to the tops. They are excellent winter boots.

If just for sitting on a stand, consider the fabric overboots you put on on ee you reach your destination.

Pac boot are hard on the toes when walking downhill. Best on level land.

I have these too, but the liners are a little thin, and not a lot of verticle space in the front of the foot region. Definitely a good walking boot, not for sitting. Mine are the standard pair with the woolen liners, not the polymeric foam in the rubber ones.

They are Neos a bit tough to walk in till you get use to them but love the pull up tops, light weight and the built in studs for ice and walking on wet logs.

I cannot overstress the importance of having dry feet when you're sitting inactive in cold temps. I do not know of a boot that is good for Cadillacin' around in that will be warm at zero degrees while inactive. For deer hunting, I clump out about one mile wearing my lacrosse Iceman boots. I change my socks when I get to my stand. I change to lighter boots when I get back to the house to beebop around driving woods and cornfields during midday. I repeat the sock change in evening stand wearing my winter boots.

I have some Lacrosse from ten years ago that I like a lot, but I also wear a pait of Schnee's every time I'm hunting in Alberta. My buddy and I have the same size feet and it is one less thing to take from here. I wore my Lacrosse on a February wolf hunt in northern Alberta and they worked well. I always buy a second pair of liners.

I've been wearing Schnee's for about15 years. Had them rebuilt once.

Neos are with out a doubt the best option. My only problems with them are finding snow shoes that work with them and driving.
