Need help with MB750 upgrade to wolf springs. When putting the springs on the side where the dog is, the bottom of the spring is rubbing on the pin keeping it from moving freely. So when set the Jaws move very slowly due to the spring rubbing on the pin. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem if you've had the same issues? They are beaver MB750 beaver traps in upgrading.

Thanks

Could you take the spring back off and bend the spring leg so it doesnt rub?

This is probably a stupid suggestion but if it were me I would try putting a big wide thick washer under that nut wide enough so the end of the spring rests upon it giving a little more freedom to the pin.I can't really judge the gap between the end of the spring and the frame enough to tell if that would even be a solution. Just a thought.

I agree, the MTP guys should be able to sort it out.I can tell you that the older, beaver models had a different frame and I got mine switched over to wolf springs but I don't think they were shaped perfectly for that old frame.I also snapped one spring, trying to bend the end of it,so I wouldn't try that.

The washer idea sounds good but I'm sure you would need a longer bolt. You might try to slip a #10 or 12 nut under that spring end and see if it will stay in place.I can't tell a lot from your picture but I'll go out later and look at mine and see if there are any similarities.

Looking at a picture on MTP,I couldn't tell for sure but it almost looked like one spring end had a piece of metal under the tip?

Here is what mine look like.It appears you have the newer frame. You may not be able to tell but there is definitely space between the spring end and trigger rod.Your springs appear to have a different bend than mine.

Can you loosen the nut on your spring pins and slide them more to the outside?Notice the oblong hole and how mine are toward the outside end of that hole.If you have some adjustment there, that may give you the clearance you need. That would get the angled part of the spring end off the trigger rod.I hope that makes sense.

ie,I think your spring is just too close to the trigger rod.

Yours are definitely bent different than mine. I'm also struggling with bending the long part if the spring to get it under the lever with out bending it. Will it weaken the spring? Just don't want to mess up the springs. I'm trying to get them all done by next weekend to set for wolves. Shouldn't be this hard! Lol I'm sure I'm making it harder than it needs to be.

Did you try adjusting the springpins out ?What kind of tool do you use to get the springs under the levers?

I'm just using a hollow piece of metal tubing. Maybe 1/4 in diameter.

Just go with the stock MB450s. More then enough holding power for a wolf.

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Any reason why you couldnt just weld a small square of iron to the frame to give the spring enough clearance. Just running. A bead across where the spring contacts the frame might even be enough. Just some food for thought

That's kinda what I did the other day and it did give me the clearance I needed. Do you guys have any tricks to getting these springs in with out bending the crap out of the spring while trying to get it behind the lever?
