A friend of mine from Saskatchewan sent me this picture. Thought it might be of interest to the folks on the forum.

I hope he sells it on the taxidermy market rather than the fur market. If he does put it up for fur, tell him to leave the feet/claws on the pelt.

I think he plans to have a taxidermist do it for him since it's such an unusual one. Oddly enough, he didn't trap or shoot it but found it as a road kill. Still limber so it just happened; guess the person who hit it didn't know it's value. Good that it will get preserved.

Quite the find. I used to goose hunt up there. I've never seen so many coyotes!

If you leave the feet and claws on the coyote and send it to Nafa with all your other fur, will they sort that coyote with the feet on into a different lot than all the other coyotes?
Will they treat it like a wolf and bear?

I recieved offers of over $1000 for mine last fall

I skinned her with feet on and she hanged in my office.

I had decided only way she was leaving was for $2k. Which I was sure wouldn't happen

A white coyote like that at NAFA, whether it has feet or not, will be graded by itself or in a lot with other white coyotes. Some sales have no white coyotes but once in a while there will be a few. And they sell for very good money - to the craft market buyers.

The off color coyotes that are black or white are sort of hidden in the NAFA catalog. They are in the same section as the red coyotes but usually have no description listed. You almost have to be at the sale to,know which ones, if any, are white.

Having said that, there are many better places to sell a pelt like that than NAFA.

Nice picture! Noticed yours had a black nose and the one my friend picked up has a pink nose and lips.

Mine was not albino. It's genetic. I dressed one two season before for a gal the short one about 3 miles away from where I caught mine
