Boco,I was trying to present it in more detail, sometimes you have to say it a lot in different ways for some to fully grasp what primeness, grading, and sections are all about. All beaver are not equal.

Boco cherry picked those. He told you that. Scars, rubs, matts out of your control.

Scars rubs matts smalls etc are not for the auction in todays market,as you can see the difference in price just from a slt.You have to choose what to send to auction. It has been repeated ad nauseum by the auctions that anything but the better goods is difficult to sell even at low prices right now. Maybe I'm a bit weird, but I like putting up beaver, and don't find it all that difficult or time consuming as long as I don't set out too many traps all at once.

I've put up 22 large or bigger in the last 2 weeks. Right now I have 6 on hoops and 4 on boards plus 4 in the freezer. Med. And smaller I'm selling green to greunwalds. My best last year at FHA was 47.00. Maybe I'm just a little crazy like boco. Never set more beaver traps then you want beaver to carry. Also never check more traps then you want to deal with beaver in one day.

I know for many it's a hobby. But honestly to pay 6 bucks for a hide that was trapped in a pond of frozen temperatures. You might at least have a little more respect for the trappers time. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the activity and what it teaches. I'm just hearing aloud voice that says. "If you think it's that cheap to get them. Here have a trap and there is the pond have a nice day mister furrier." Or who ever makes that assumption.
Sorry if I'm out of place here. I'm not thinking it should be a direct lively hood. 6 bucks or even twenty for just the big extra heavy ones rubs me raw.
You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

If you could drop your beaver off every day at a furbuyer and he paid you 25 cents a pound straight for the entire beaver would you do it? If I wasnt taking more than i could handle skinning the next day, even with todays prices, your better off taking the animals home with you if they were any size and had full castors.

Price goes down below profit level; no product is produced. Capitalism. Not what's going on here.

The graders at FHA said there is a line that runs e-w equivalent to the north part of Ohio and another line that runs n-s near Minnesota west border.North and East of each line respectively which the better beavers originate from in the USA.

Dirt please explain not forgetting and nuisance and “fun” trapping. You explain why the OP is trapping a $20 (castor and hide ) beaver primarily for bait to catch $15 canines, please?
