We all know the feeling in the air this time of year, the season that employs all the senses in their summit , in so many directions at once. Welcoming cool temps washing out the heat of summer , the crisp smells of woods, air, water. Warmth of wood heat on your face as you enter your cabin , aromas of good food . Colours, sounds, textures, tastes, all converge at once as a wave in the physical realm , blending in tandem with height of emotions of keen anticipation , and all it represents. The Tman Tribe surely appreciates such an adventure lived every year . We are "tribal" , indeed . The shared experience of the season , time and tradition honored . Among these, the right in possessing magnificent firearms. With time running out in my season , I was feeling that familiar restlessness of time crunch , though knowing , often the chance for the most poundage of meat always begins to show in the first part of November on, so in waiting, it has often paid off, but still a gamble in chance. So, I end up watching a number of younger bucks and pass on them , enjoying getting to recognize who is making the rounds in their circuit. Last late afternoon, number 4- I see him, made an appearance for the first time in over a week , following a doe on the trail. He wasn't the youngest, not large by any means either, but a nice shaped buck with some size . Instead of waiting to my last day, and pushing the chance of not seeing anything, I made my decision. Tis a mighty thing to me, every time I lock onto the target in my scope , take a breath, and squeeze the trigger on my 300 Mag Weatherby M V. The anticipation of feeling that power in motion leaves me awestruck every time. No wonder it is often called a lightning bolt in hand. The exquisite magnificence of a beautiful firearm is something I will always be profoundly thankful to posses and use. Sheer art in motion. When I hear gunfire anytime, I think, "freedom". As usual, my neighbors at road's end heard me shoot, and ambled over to enjoy seeing what I got , and to help . Its their happy tradition as hunters themselves , to share in the celebrations. Another season of good meat and antler art , both of which I am entitled to enjoy , and share with Mr Paul's Tman Tribe tradition , in happy camaraderie . Life.....tis mighty !

love the coloring on the headgear of that nice buck ! gotta love the big 300 s drops them with authority. Have shot 300 wby most of my life and my adult boys both shoot that round.. few years back i got a good buy on a mk 5 30-378 at gun show... no advantage to 300 ... but drains the powder keg faster ... i just did it to remain dominate over my boys.. can tell them better put your'e pea shooters away and let poppa show ya how... Deer hunting sure is fun and brings the Tribe together.. I know the decisions to make on taking a buck before last day is tough .. but them backstraps will sure be good on the grill.. tag soup is really bitter. leaves a bad taste in my mouth for a whole year !

Thank you, pcr2 , HT, BB ! Pete, oh I love enjoying the character of antler art too- food for the soul , as well as the meat . Actually, I do look for the bigger ones , I get more meat that lasts me longer. This time, though, number 4 is just fine too I agree, this rifle is my favorite . Nothing like it for me. Eagleye, my pleasure, thank you , and Weasel . Yes indeed, Sir Ken, the grain on this is as tiger eye gemstone from end to end ! In the sun, it ripples in layers of stripes and swirls. Patience does pay in wonderful rewards- thank you Thank you RdFx , yes when I first saw it , I sold another rifle to be able to invest in this one. Jerry, its a pleasure to be part of the outdoor tradition and share with others of like mind. Thank you . Thank you, walleyed and Boco. Hydro, I couldn't have said it better than yourself ! Thank you for your share , and yes tag soup is awful - no seasoning dresses that up Thank you, nightlife !

PING!!!!!
Boy-Howdy and Wow, Miss Sharon! Beautiful animal. Love those north Idaho/Northwestern Montana colors on the antlers, and I'm once again reminded of the natural warm colors of the antlers, the beautiful gunstock, and your own burnished locks. Quite a trinity in art. Also, thanks for your wonderful prose to remind me what this great country is composed of. Freedom, and a cornucopia of sustenance if one just takes the time and effort to go out and partake of that bounty.
Congratulations Girl!

Congratulations and nice work, Chickie! That rack color is amazing too! Are they all like that in your area? I know you've been waiting patiently to take one buck with your tag. You sure have more patience than I do! Way to go! Your neighbors can't resist coming over when they hear that Mountain Music boom out from your place. I wish we were close enough to run over there ourselves!!! Enjoy those first celebratory meals by the fire! Congrats, Chickie! Patrice

Patrice !! Welcome back from your business trip- and your fun this past week too. I have missed you ! We will catch up . Yezzum, theres something all the bucks in the NW and N Idaho rub on - I think its cedar. Im not positive , but it sure colours them beautifully- chocolate , I call it Today is my last day, and if I do see another Magnusson, Ill kick myself for not being patient enough ! Yes, the neighbors say they hear Mountain Music all through the valley ....one day Ill have someone shoot it with me a distance off, so I can hear what everyone else does I have my earplugs in solid , so I cant hear much but a low muted boom . So good to have you back, Chicke , and thank you ! PING !!! Jack ! We are indeed fortunate to have this freedom , and in our enjoyment of the western experience.. one of these days I would love to find out what these deerzies thrash their antlers on, to get the gorgeous rich colour. You of all people surely appreciate life and art in all things . Thank you, and a big wave and smile from your Montana neighbor ! Thank you, Bob. Nightlife, a sacrifice for worthwhile success in life is a small price indeed, compared to the resulting rewards in happiness ....
