So Aphis here In WI has 500 carcass beaver up for bids. The minimum bid Is $3.00 per beaver. The castors are intact.

So who's interested?

I don't know the contact number since I'm not interested. But I'm sure one could do a goggle search.

Need more info-Is that out of season nuisance beaver or beaver with good fur?The castors would be worth double that at least unless the carcasses are rotting,or they are all smalls. They are frozen I presume?.

They are Aphis beaver. I'm sure there are July and August beaver In the mix. Aphis does most of their work In the off season.
They are frozen for sure.
I may have thought a bit more about It but where am I going to store them as I work them up. I guess you could rough skin 50 a day with out to much trouble. Then there Is the issue with the carcasses.

On the average each one of those beaver cost someone around $300.00 to catch. And the decimal point Is In the right position.

Got my letter from them the bid is minimum of $2.00 and the castors have been removed to be bid on separately. The bids have to be in by Dec.6th. they say they have 350 to 400. and they are only the large and X-large. Thought I might bid but have the same problem as BEAV where to put them while working them up. They usually trap them during Aug.Sept and Oct . Normally they ask for a bid of $5.00. I suspect no one bid so they offered them out only the larger ones and at the lower price. In case your wondering APHIS is under united states dept. of agriculture--- Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. I know this is more than you wanted to know but now you have it.

So these are feds or fed contractors who are catching problem beavs (plugging road culverts, etc) in National Forests in the western GL states (MN, WI, MI)...?

It would seem that any beaver that lives in Wisconsin is a problem beaver.... if you are a trout fisherman.

Feds. They won’t hire us contractors. BMAP monies make it dirt cheap to do private landowner jobs so we can’t hardly compete at times. They are in every state so far as I know. Here in NC they get all DOT work.

Yes, but only seem to catch the easy ones around here. Leaving the real problem (trap shy) beaver behind for the rest of us to deal with. Do I sound bitter? Yep.

Sure does sound like government math. 300 to catch and sell for3. Wonder why so many are against government trapping programs?

That's funny cuz that is exactly what the so called ADC trappers do in most of the areas I have been!!
