I bought a gallon of red fox urine, and only go through 8 to 16 ounces a year. I was told best way to keep it fresh is to freeze it at the end of season and thaw out before season. Is this better than just keeping in the fridge ? -Thanks

Store it in a glass container and in a cool dark area.

Mine are in plastic in the 100 degree summer weather. Just keeps producing results year after year.

I was taught by Brad Rendell (WNY) to freeze urine which reduced the water content, making a more powerful urine/attractant. He use to freeze a gallon of urine multiple time and would skim the slush ice off to make one concentrated quart for fall trapping season. Brad also made a lure/bait called Black Dynamite (mouse based). Brad knew Bill Nelson and also raised his own foxes. He was a very good fox trapper.

Freezing to concentrate is fine, but for storage it will last 20+ years in an air tight container under the work bench and still work as good or better than the day you bought it. If it spoils over the summer, then it was not good to start with.
Refrigerators for lures, urine and truck tires are unnecessary.

Carroll Black(Blackie) always said it was the best way to store urine. Kills off any potential bacteria in the urine and prevents oxidation of the urine. Remember to half at least a 1/3 of the bottle empty so it doesn't busy the bottle

It might be a great way to store it but numbers don't lie. I know a couple collectors that store in 5 gallon buckets without climate controlled facilities.It isn't the run of the mill junk either.I seriously doubt guys freezing their urine went from catching 20 coyotes to 200.

If the urine is good, you don't need to worry about spoilage. These days I would think most producers have figure out how to keep their collections clean but sometimes you just don't know.
