In our thoughts and prayers Canvasback. Like most things, the thought of the prep is worse than actually doing it.

12 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS !!!! I went in to see the Doc a while back. He talked me into getting a Colon test. Was not going to go through the gallon drink thing, and be glued to the toilet. So, he gave me the Colon guard test. I got the test results from the Doc yesterday. It came back Positive. Now, he wants me to go in for the full Colonoscopy . Got a bad feeling this is not going to turn out well. Canvasback I know of a person who had the Colo-guard test that came back positive, but colonoscopy showed it was a false positive. Hopefully that will be the same with you. Will keep you in my prayers.
Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

Not trying to be smart or mean. But going tp try and give some advice. Colonpsopy, not the worst thing, that can and will happen. I'm agent orange, have had tumors in my colon, had those removed and do colonospoy , every 2 years, then did 28 wks of Interferon, for HepC. Present got 6 more radiation, 1 Kemo, for another tumor in my throat, total of 7 wks, the radiation causes sever swallowing, no taste of any food, kemo is like the Interferon, pure sickness, and weakness. My advice, isn't what you want but what needs to be done. Doctors deal with this every day over and over. I recommend, trying what they suggests. Not being wise, or smart talking, but take a walk through the kemo cancer area waiting room. Then ask your self, do I want to be survivor, and live and keep doing what I like to do. Few fast trips to the restroom, not the end of the world. As suggested don't eat for 24 hrs before drinking. Crap is terrible, but you don't want radiation, or kemo. I know I've been their more times then I care to count. The best to you

You have my sympathy. I know everyone has their own values, an opinions on life, death, and whatever in-between. I don't want to try to influence you in any particular direction, but, I'll tell you how I feel: - The length of life, and the quality of life are two different issues
- The AMA loves to try to dictate that you need to have tests, treatment, and whatever that will keep you alive without regard to your quality of life.
- I may be up in age, but, would rather take my chances on certain ailments than submit myself to a lot of tests that may or may not mean what they expect you to purge.
- If you think you might get peace of mind or a possible cure...go for it.
- If not, go about your life.

I had the same test done with colo guard and it came back positive. So I had to have a colonoscopy and a couple of polyps removed. I have to get tested every 5 years now.

Thanks everyone ! Well, after dealing with back and forth phone calls between Doctors offices , and dealing with their Secretaries / and or Nurses, and the Insurance Company to make sure everything is covered; I have come to the conclusion that the Medical profession has GONE TO POT!! It's all about the MONEY and plain laziness ! Here is what happened today: Called the specialist that I was referred to by my Primary Doc. They got me an appointment for next week. Ok, so far. Then I called the Insurance Company All covered , except I need a referral from my Doc to see the Colon Doc. Some insurance Paperwork needs to be filled out , and FAXED over. Told the Primary Doc this, and the Secretary says "We charge $15.00 for filling out paperwork, we have utility bills to pay, and you can pick it up !" I said " it says right on the forms I faxed over to you, that it has to be filled out by my primary Doctor, and they need it sent from Primary Doc to the Specialist!" She rudely told me that "WE DO NOT FAX PAPERWORK!" At that point , I was speechless! On the one hand I could possibly understand a fee for filling paperwork, even though $15.00 is a bit excessive for 2 pages that could easily be filled out in 15 minutes. On the other hand, saying that they don't fax paperwork over for a Specialist Doctor that THEY referred me to, seems almost like a Catch-22. So, I called Colon Doc up after dealing to no end with my Primary Doc's Secretary Told her what was going on. She laughed. Said they would never charge for filling out those forms. She said she will fill out the paperwork and have my Primary Doc sign it when SHE is done filling it out ! OMG!! I actually got someone helpful ! How in the heck do you find a good Doctor these days?

If we want to stick around for a while longer. Hope it works out OK.
