drive a truck here too. pull an end dump. stay local. construction jobs. in the past hauled a few bushels of grain along with other commodities. hauled meat and produce. pulled a dry van for a short time. several million end dump miles otr. swung a hammer some too. always seem to end up back under a steering wheel

Semi retired.
I fill in for employees on vacation at a local trucking company. I also do pickups and deliveries 2 days a week for a local hardware store. I do ADC work. I create oil paintings from client photos. I play in a band. I'm in the process of setting up a greenhouse as a side business. I'm one step closer to my dream of a Christian summer camp for kids and winter camp for trappers that wish to experience "The Eastern Shore."
You might say "I'm living the dream."

For 20 years I put on a suit every morning working with large international companies from Germany then Japan traveled way too much, so I made a dramatic change and became a remodeling contractor. The health issues forced me to semi retire so now for the past 4 years I have been growing a ADC business and trapping all winter long for fun/fur

This is a cool thread, neat to see what everyone does for a living. I work on a ranch that is owned by a universtiy, so we do a lot of cattle nutrition research, sheep nutrition research, repro physiology stuff, brush control work, blahblahblah. Coolest thing I've done in my 12 years here is fly in a helicopter and catch deer and antelope to put on collars for some wildlife research. HELICOPTERS ARE AWESOME. But most of the time I'm just a rancher. You know, feed the cows and sheep, fix the fence, break the ice, oh yeah and trap as much as I can. Happy trapping!!

Worked as a carpenter for many years. Taught carpentry at a technical school for 23 years. Retired from teaching. Do code enforcement work, part time for a couple towns, so end up working several hours a week at that. Raise quality Labs, will add high end German Shepard pups for sale to the business in about a year. Have a kennel were we train dogs and board some. Do some private hire dog consultations and training. Do some writing. Do ADC some in the summer. Have a few more irons in the fire concerning the dog business for the future Oh ya, do sled dog tours in the winter. Trap some in fur season but sometimes not as much as I would like. Never ever bored. Never.

Fish and wildlife technician on and off. Trapping is my job right now and I enjoy my work. Did almost every job there is to do since I was 15. Sure miss those $12000 per month jobs when the oil companies were around.

I am a finish carpenter by trade and have always done carpentry and hay farming, however last year and a half I find myself in an office job, wholesaling pipe and parts to plumbers and excavators for a Northwest wholesale company. Looking to get back to carpentry and start my own furniture business here pretty soon.

Geographer and historian, U.S. land use is my gig.
"Household" gets most of my money so for a little extra spending cash I do ebay & craiglist sales, metal recycling, a little garden selling, a little trapping. God willing, I plan to retire from the day job at the end of 2025. We'll see what's next after that...

Retired Marine and now and aircraft mechanic. Ooh-Rah! And Semper Fi! Retired Marine and now and aircraft mechanic. Ooh-Rah! And Semper Fi! Guess I should’ve mentioned I’m a marine veteran as well. Surprised there aren’t any other farmer/Ranchers? Full time anyway, seems normal to me in my country but I guess aren’t many people that make there living off it without a side gig/day job. Come to think of it if I was smart I’d have a side gig instead of trying to learn how to trap......

Semi retired now , Last 6-7 years; Working as a consultant in various production management areas. Currently assigned to a QC department in a plastics production / assembly plant. About 30% is Government contracts , rest are 2nd and 3rd tier contracts. The goal is to get the owners into a "Tier One" catagory of suppliers. Prior to that ; Just short of 35 yrs in automotive production and manufacturing at CMC . (Checker Motors Corporation). World famous for the Yellow Taxi Cab , we produced. After the Car Manufacturing closed we switched over to a supplier for GM , Chrysler , Ford , Saturn, Hummer major body parts. Roofs, Doors, Tailgates , Bumpers and such. When the Ponzi scam took us under , I had worked my way up thru the company from a spotwelder on the Cab Bodyline - To General Foreman / Pressroom Superintendent. In charge of all 3 shifts of Production . Assy and Quality Control in Plant #1 and Plant #2. Outdoors and Trapping became my Alone Time , Time to Relax , Recharge , and then Return to the War room to stay the course as needed. Met and worked with some incredible people,
Mailbox money starts in January, Anxious to see what the next Adventure in life brings me.

Over the years I had about every job in the book, all the while hoping to build up enough of a clientele to go full time as a taxidermist. I did nothing but taxidermy (except fur/ADC trapping) from '87 on. Before that it was taxidermy and seasonal tech/Conservation Aide for the agency now called the Natural Resources Conservation Service, an offshoot of the USDA. I also did stints as a pulp cutter, pallet bolt mill-hand, carpenters helper/builder, garbage man, construction laborer, well driller's gopher, land survey crew rodman, Youth Corps supervisor, tree-planter, factory rat (injection molding plant), factory rat (metal stamping plant), and general farm laborer. I am now officially retired and spend my day as the care-giver of my Bride who is fighting M.S. tooth and nail. She is my hero.

Did just plain factory work for a few years. Then I had my own electrical contracting business for a few years. A pretty bad car wreck, they gave me last rights in the hospital, caused me to lose that. I then got another factory job. I worked in maintenance doing welding, carpentry, plumbing, fixing machines (mainly printing presses), stuff like that. I am retired now. I enjoy baking. I just made two pumpkin rolls today.
