Anyone on here rebuild the battery packs for their cordless tools? I have a bunch of old ones that I want to rebuild. My question is, what is the best name batteries to buy for power tools? There are a ton of different names like Tenergy, Windmax, GEILIENERGY, BAOBIAN and plenty of others.

That's not the question I'm asking. I'm rebuilding the battery packs. It takes (my packs) 12 batteries that are all soldered together. My question is what is a good name battery for rebuilding these packs?

I've rebuilt a couple small battery packs not for tools but my marine radio and metal detector. The biggest problem with doing it my self is the lack of the spot weld tool they use to do the tab connections on the batteries. With the soldering iron or gun it can be hard to get enough heat on the battery end to get the tab to stick. Much like trying to sweat a pipe with water in it. So you risk damaging the battery trying to solder the tabs. The company's that rebuild battery packs have small spot welders. They line things up and Click! tab spot welded very little heat to the cell. I managed to get my packs rebuilt without damaging any of the cells. Guess was just lucky. This was years ago before amazon and all the things you can buy now. At that time to send my marine battery pack out for rebuilt it was $65.00 + shipping. I ordered batteries from Mouser and did it myself for around $25.00. Last pack I got for that radio had done at Batteries/Plus when they first came here. I've come to not like that place as I think they just want to sell to cell phone folks??? I took my pack for my detector there and they looked at me like I was an alien. So I ordered one off e-bay. But to the original question? Yes you can do battery packs your self if you can solder or weld the tabs without over heating and damaging the cells.
