Ok I just need to know. I recently bought the 3.5 eco boost. I started out getting 18 to 20 mpg. Now I’m getting 10 to 12 mpg. I was told by the dealer that mpg will go down when it gets cold because of the twin turbos. If this is normal I think I want my old truck back. Has anyone else experienced this? Probably not a question for you southern guys.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I have the 2013 Ford Eco-boost 3.5L. Yes I get 13.5 in winter with mud terrain tires on. In summer I get 17 MPG with all-season tires. I like the truck okay but I'm going back to Toyota for my next rig.

Yep, I have a 6.7 diesel in a F350 with dual rear tires and I get 19 if I keep it at 60; 13 pulling 8,000 lbs at 65 and 13 when I'm empty and going 80 down the freeway!

No problem with the 2.7. Around 20 in town and 22 on the highway.

I have a 2013 Super Crew with the 3.5. I average 17mpg which falls off to 14.5 to 15 mpg in the winter. On trips in flat land I get 19-20 mpg.

Everyone that comes in for service work at the shop I work in the average MPG read out is always 16-16.5 mpg.
My 250,000 mile 1998 Chevrolet 1/2 ton gets that good.

Well I've always been a ford guy but this truck really disappoints me. I'm always putting gas in it, the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) end is too light and always spin or fishtail. For some reason all the slush builds up on running boards and freezes then you can't open the door. Huge gap around endgame so inside the box fills up with dust. Etc, etc. But, it has more power then you could ask for, don't need to wait for a gap to pass.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Eco Boost is a great engine with power and torque to spare. If your engine has high mileage you may have buildup on the back of your intake valves.

What fuel are you using? If you have switched to E85, then you can expect 30% lower mpg.

Make sure your tires have proper inflation for cold weather.

2017 Tacoma with a 2.7, puts out 157 HP... 5 speed manual... When I step on it, it kind of accelerates..
2018 F-150 with the 2.7 ecoboost, puts out 325 HP.... 10 speed auto... When I step on it, it will flat ask haul the mail.
So far the F-150 has gotten as good or better MPGs as the Tacoma..With good driving habits I get 24 to 27.. But driving habits can change that number drastically. Hard to resist kicking in the twin turbos.
This winter MPGs have dropped to the low 20s but I attribute that to longer warm up time and shorter trips.

I just got back from a trip with my 2018 3.5 Ecoboost. averaged 17.8 driving around the city sightseeing. On the way home I went 74 in the 65 mph zones and 78 in the 70 mph zones and the computer said I averaged 18.4. the computer says 24-28 when driving 50-60 but have never averaged that good on a tankful. Now driving around checking traps which is short road trips and driving through fields computer says 12-13. Overall on a tank I've never got below 16 average.
