WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration moved Tuesday to officially ban bump stocks, which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire rapidly like automatic firearms, and has made them illegal to possess beginning in late March.

Feelgoodism. One guy out of a population of three hundred and twenty million people shouldn't cause this kind of a reaction. They feel like they have to do something, even if it's wrong.

If these turn a weapon one can legally own into one which is illegal, I see it as common sense-something that is very rare coming from a politician.

Guns cannot be legal or illegal, only the little spineless peon who didn't pay the tax stamp or ask for permission can be legal or illegal.

Fully automatics? Should they be available legally every American? Some believe they should, I do not.
I also believe that if all gun owners simply dig our heels in and refuse to be part of the policy talks, that will surely have some changes made to them, we will be the worse for it.

Yes Grackle, any form of gun control is an infringement and unconstitutional in my view. As far as being a party to 'policy talks' that in the end result in compromise- there is a gun control group tailor made for you : www nra.org

I guess Trump does not want a second term after all. Can't blame the guy in a way.

I am no longer an NRA member. I parted company with the group, along with GHWBush, when they came out with the "jack booted thugs" discription of ATF.

Semi's will be next. Prohibition of firearms ownership is the end goal. Plain and simple. But I guess you're comfortable with that too.

I agree. But, there are some who actually believe if you desire to own a working, belt-fed, M60 machine gun you should be able to. Common sense indicates just a matter of time when one would get in the wrong hands and massacre a hundred innocents. Some of these are the same ones who think waterboarding a terrorist is inhuman and wrong.

We are told not to judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but are told to judge all gunowners by the actions of a few.

I agree that that is the end goal for the extremists on one side-total ban on all firearms.
The extremists on the other side believe there should be absolutely NO limits on the weapons that are legally available to all Americans.
I don't agree with either of those extreme positions.

If you follow that logic, let's just lock everyone up in cells as pretty much any object can be used by the wrong person to kill someone else

I think I should be able to own an M60 or bumpstock if I want, and that waterboarding is okay under certain circumstances.

GOA is filing a law suit against the ATF and DOJ to seek an injunction protecting gun owners from these unconstitutional regulations.

You can give up on the common sense aspect. You wouldn't know common sense if it ran over you in a semi truck
