Is anyone in the Fur table in Prince Albert Saskatchewan this year ? Lotsof Mink...... that table brings in a lot more 3xl heavys than Thompson so the values are more in line

When the sales wrap up one Saturday, the averages paid or advanced are usually out Sunday of work Monday.
The key factor is amount of trappers and fur brought in for a barameter effect

Each bundle of fur is inspected by the buyers and auction houses at the sale and the trapper gets to decide what offer he wants to go with. The buyers offer a cash price for all the goods offered, the auction houses make an advance offer on the spot and then ship the goods to auction.
Not the fastest process but one that works for the trapper.
If the advance is to high from the auction houses the trapper will sometimes switch auction houses to avoid the advance from last year.

A lot of effort goes into this from the Manitoba Trappers Association. A part of the grant comes from Manitoba Hydro (electrical company) to hold this event. The MTA also bring up a lot of trap supplies so they get a bargain in shipping.
Interesting that they require 4 buyers there and they have to be Manitoba resident to hold a fur buyers licence. Some years it has been a challenge to get there with 4 buyers.

Another season with money for Christmas for those northern people.
170 plus trappers, over 3000,000$ went into the community. The lynx numbers are away up...not many kittens mmmm. Nothing like the number when the 1000 $ day in numbers of past.
the artic fox numbers from last year are away down this year.

Saw some very well prepared mink that would win any competition anywhere.
Many were sold outside the event so even more marten were around,

PA sale was over in two hours , very poor turn-out this year in Saskatchewan

Mink prices ..NO -maybe tomorrow, bio is off a day or two......hard water fishing might meet him on the ice.
The mink was just done perfectly for anyone who had to grade it, not a bite on the pelage, form perfect, you could grade and colour without pealing the legs back, perfect leather colour( some frost drying) legs tucked in and perfectly matched.
Waboden Mb area... there was a dozen

Looks like the mink from your region Boco

Sounds like a $45 USD. average on these, usually 1/2 heavy and 1/2 semi at Thompson.

21 wolverine, with a $150.00 average? That's pathetic.

The good coloured and pattern wolverine stay in the community caught in and used locally.

1.34 Can = 1 USD at this time

Well, if the marten harvest this year is reflection of mine, prices are going to go through the roof!

With no NAFA collecting it is going to be interesting to see if the Thompson table will go off in 2019.
Sorry I had to bring this up, but it means a lot for northern communities with the Xmas cash flow.

With Bruno bowing out this year, will it be an auction?
