When it comes to government handout's I believe the wording in the Constitution is "general welfare" NOT "specific group's".

I propose new legislation

the banning or reclassification of anything that is legal to make it illegal a crime just to own not even use shall take a 2/3 majority of both houses.

Confiscation without representation is exactly what it is. It was a rule change not voted on by any elected official. It was introduced as an idea by Trump and then made into a rule by the DOJ/ATF. Back in the 1700's we started a violent revolution when our tea got taxed without representation. Now some people bend over and take it because they gotta support the GOP, because in their mind that's their only choice.

He's talking about a line in Trump's book published almost two decades ago, same as James back on page two of this feeding frenzy. It's a classic "Not-my-President" talking point. Didn't you know that only liberals and libertarians are allowed to change their minds? Republicans are not.

Two questions lugnut...

1. Do you have any evidence to show that Trump has changed his mind regarding an assault weapons ban? If not, then why should we assume he has? You know what happens whon one assumes, after all....

2. If Hillary Clinton came out tomorrow and said she's a changed woman, she thinks that "Shall not be infringed" means "Shall not be infringed", and that any and all gun laws are unconstitutional, would you believe her? And if not, why would you believe Donald Trump?

Presidents, all people in fact, are allowed to change their mind, but you need to show me some sort of evidence besides a change in political party to prove it.

(Also, Trump is my president.)

We usually expect a good reason for someone to change their mind. Most R's only change their mind when pressured into it or never believed their previous stated stance to start with. Not many change their mind to the more constitutional position

Good points. I knew Trump felt that way about the assault ban years ago, and he hasn't done anything since he was sworn in to make me think he has in fact changed his mind.

Just look back thru this thread. See any of the Trump haters blaming the Dems for not going along with the border wall? If Trump could get a dozen Dems on his side, he would be building the most beautiful wall ya ever saw!

I guess what I would like to know is where in the Constitution does the executive get the authority to ban anything ?

If Congress had done this I could understand the process even though I may not like the outcome.

No need to call Dems out for not supporting the border. None of them are ever going to support it and haven't made any promises to do so. I thought Trump would try to court Dems more if he was elected than he had but they all went off the deep end win he won.

Here is the final rule for everybody, directly from the ATF. Take note that there is no provision for anyone to own a bompstock at all. They are not being "put in" with automatics, as some have stated. All bumpstocks have been manufactured after 1986, and per the Gun Control Act of 1986 no civilian can own a machine gun made after 1986. It spells it all out in the rule.
