I'm having trouble with my Stealth game cam's, in that when I pull the card to read it, I put in a different one to continue. Many times when next I check, the card is BLANK! I'm careful to make sure I reset the function afterwards. Any ideas? Someone suggested that the little white sliding switch thingy on the side might have something to do with it, but nobody can tell me exactly what the switch is for. After reading the card I delete any pics that I don't want, and so far, when those cards go back in, the previous pic's are still there. Fresh Batt's put in a couple of months ago and have used nowhere near the capacity of any cards. I'm using the 30 second Video mode.
Thanks in advance, and I appreciate any help given.

The switch makes the card read or write in one position and read only in the other position. It is read and write in the position toward the connector end. That is where it needs to be.
I have stealth cameras and have no problem changing cards but I always transfer any pictures that I want to keep to the computer and delete everything from the card before I use it again.
I back all the way out to where DCIM shows on the screen and then right click and Delete.

I use a library 'puter and can't leave the pics on there, wouldn't know how anyway. Somebody said I could use one of those stick thingy's to store them but they said the way I'm doing it is OK. I'm making sure the switch is forward to the contact end. I am a low tech square peg in a new world of round holes for sure! LOL I wish I had my Rotary phone back too, there is no way to satisfyingly slam hang up on somebody with a cellie..

That is a weird issue. I would do some experimenting to try to eliminate issues, like others have said: -can the issue be connected with certain card, brands, sizes etc? -does it only happen when you insert a card with pics on it vs. a blank card? -have you tried re-formatting a card in the camera to see if it helps? That fixes a lot of issues, which is why most cam manufacturers recommend it “for best results.”
If you want to off-load pics using a library computer, you could use either a flash drive (aka jump drive, USB stick) like you mentioned, or an online file storage service like Google Photos.
I love Google Photos. It’s free, stores my photos online and I can access them from any computer or smartphone with my email and password. Uploading your photos from a library computer would be a snap too.
Good luck.

Every time you put an SD card in any trail camera, select "delete all" or "format" your card. This will delete anything incompatable on your card with that particular trail camera, and ready that card to accept new data files (pics) from that camera. Of course this means you must transfer any wanted prior files ahead of time to save them for future viewing on another device, ie computer or external storage drive. Follow this policy and you should have no issues. SD cards are a poor way to store long term images. They are merely a short term transfer tool.

Yeppers, only 175 trips at most on an 8GB card, caused by an errant twig in the wind, and usually only a couple of dozen. Have no clue what formatting is, and so far I've not had a problem with stuff already on the card, I think. Will pay close attention to that switch position.

Good idea, I have an O'bama phone and it's certainly smarter than I am, but I'll have to check to see if that would work.

Stealth Cam will handle up to 32 gb cards. Don't try the SDXC cards that offer higher capacity, only newer models will accept them. My new phone was giving me all kinds of problems with my cards recently, I had to stop looking at them on my phone because it would tell me the card was corrupted, but it was my phone that was corrupting them. You may have a funky Stealth Cam, I have found them to have a lot of issues.

I have a bunch of different camera and card brands... One thing I have noticed for me is I now only use good quality batteries (Energizer Lithium are my first choice)... Cheap batteries and cold temp's will play havoc on performance... After formatting a card in a camera you probably will not need to format it again as long as you use it in the same camera (even if you delete the pictures). In my Browning cameras I use the Browning cards and have found them to be outstanding! I have also found all my Bushnell cards once formatted in a Bushnell camera they will work in any Bush cam... I mark them so I know what card goes with what camera... Another thing to try is formatting on your computer to "FAT32"... I have had excellent results doing this to my coverts and stealth cams... The white "switch" will lock the card .... Have it locked and you will not be able to delete or add files... Make sure the lock is in the up position (un lock) ,.,.
