Ok, I have a trail coming out of some real thick stuff leading to a firebreak. There’s about 20ft of trail from the thick nasty to the firebreak where traps can be placed. I placed two traps inside that 20ft through the grass/briars. Before setting there were coyote, cat, and coon tracks coming out of it. Mostly coyote tracks.
So here’s the question, if you make a catch on the trail right at the firebreak, will the trail still be used? These are blind sets, no lure or bait. I remade the set and attempted to reconstruct the trail again. Since the catch, no tracks whatsoever. That would be 3 days time from the catch and a couple inches of rain.
Leave it be for another week or pull and move to somewhere else. Walked the breaks this morning and not the first critter track and it quit raining yesterday evening.

I had done this before on a trial leading to a pond for coon. What I did was set as close to the end of trial as possible and when I made a catch I just pulled trap and moved in to the new end of trail. Seemed to work pretty good for me. My reason for doing this was thinking that if critters would come to burn circle they might shy away or go to edge of circle and miss trap.
