I would imagine the bird shot is from turkey hunters. I’ve called in 3 different cats on a WMA one day.

Mostly quail, pheasant and prairie chicken hunters in the winter where I trap in Kansas. Lots of cottontail in those parts and a few jacks. All the BB's I found in cats were 6 > 7-1/2 bird shot size as I recall. All lead shot as best I could tell, no copper coated like is so popular with the new Turkey loads.

I have called and shot several cat over the years calling coyotes in fall and winter and also turkey hunting in the spring.

My buddy and I both got our first deer as seniors in high school. His dad owned a little fast food place and we were cooking up some "chislic" (what South Dakotans call finely cubed up lamb, deer, or beef meat that is deep-fat fried) and Another buddy was eating a piece and bite into a .22 solid nose bullet. No sign of trauma that I could remember. Probably some Hutterite young guys out shooting at stuff and hit this buck in the butt sometime in the past.

I have a bobcat skull that has a 3/8" diameter twig lodged in the roof of its mouth.
I also have a coyote skull the has a 22 cal, slug skuck in the roof of its mouth.
