Anybody out there using the Loring packbasket?
I need something more durable than wood.

I’ve been using one for the last 2 years. I’m very happy with it. It is build tougher than any other I’ve seen. They cost a bit , but I think the quality is worth it. Get the pads for the shoulder straps, helps comfort when carring heavy loads.

Not a pack basket.....but IMO a better pack.


It's a Slumberjack Rail Hauler made for hauling meat quarters. It's super light and heavy duty. I think it's rated to carry 200+. The straps are awesome and take the load off your shoulders.

I bought a cheap trash can and it fits perfectly. For a size comparison...that's a gallon of waxed dirt.



I've carried 2 gallons of dirt, 6 #2s, and all my setting gear without much of a problem over rugger Rocky hillside...








I needed the frame pack for hauling meat....nice to double it as a trapping pack. Only thing I need to come up with is somewhere to put my bait/lures to keep them separate. Right now I just carry them in a separate bag in my hands but could easily rig something up to work.


When carrying it on the line with remake gear and dispatch tool, much lighter, it's hardly noticable.


I know the Loring baskets are supposed to be great....but the strap system on a frame pack makes carrying weight much easier.

Really like the Loring pack basket.

I love my Loring pack basket. It's worth every penny.

I have been using my Louring for about 8 years now and it's just as good as the day I got it. I trap year around and use it all the time. Dang good basket. I don't think they make the trapper baskets anymore though, I think they make a general type basket.

Pike, I just recently got it...still tweaking the concept but it's working really well. Built to carry a lot more weight so I don't foresee any issues.

Some minor adjustments to the setup and I think it'll be great. Looking for a sealed container of some sort just the right size for baits and lures to bolt to the trash can or something possibly. And maybe rig up some organization type stuff...loops for my trowel and hammer and stake driver etc just to tiddy it up. Could easily use Paracord or zip ties to fasten traps to the frame if I need more room in the trash can.


I'm cheap...and like multipurpose stuff.....


The wheels in the one pic belong to a lawn cart...4 wheeled heavy duty sucker. It has a convertible handle. Either a nice Day handle for pulling by hang or I can hitch it to my lawnmower. I used it to drag my gear in a ways. I had a few places back in but a pretty decent trail taking me back. I threw the pack in the cart as well as additional traps etc that I'd need to make a bunch of sets back there. Didn't have to go back to the truck at all that day. Also plan to use it as a deer cart....and I use it around the house as intended on the lawnmower lol.

I bought one this year and like it. You can find videos showin the abuse they can take on youtube. I will be making some shoulder pads, as it is a bit uncomfortable when hauling weight. Made some mods to the basket.
