Any body using these?
What do you think of them?
Are they lower to the jaws, than say just using a wood pan on the trigger wires?
I'd like to get that pan as close to the top of the bottom jaws as possible.
Would like the advice of people using them, so please if you don't have anything constructive to add, don't add anything.
I'm a get outside and get it done trapper, so I don't need useless advice from cyber trapper's just so you can increase your post count..

Jim

I don't remember if it was Clint Locklear or not but whoever it was said there catch ratio for cat trapping went way up with a bigger pan. I have never used them.

How's it goin Jim.

You'll have to be a bit more specific, is there a certain product you are looking at? I'm not up to date on all these new gadgets.

I bought a half dozen expandapans for 330s recently. First thing I did was cut 3/4” off each end for a better fit (for my needs) between the vertical arms of my H-stands.

I bought them to use as shallow water traps. I actually bent them up to be hit by beaver breast or climbed on. It’s more of a specially set (on my 330s) as far as my needs are concerned.

I generally use wires twisted together 6-8 times then bent to a T, dog down.

When water is getting shallower, smaller beavers can encounter the T, and I believe they either grab wires to climb over or move out of the way. This creates a serious problem when the trap fires, magnum or non magnum. If using magnum jaws, you’ll have a souvenir left at times, and this is my reason for pans.

Dry set info is probably what you’re after but I haven’t used them for that, yet.
