I had one of my yote traps just disappear on me! Drove by on a check and seen something didn't look right so I got out and the trap steak and all was gone! 15 inch wolf fang 1/8 cable. And this is very hard ground. I have never had anything like this happen. I mean I pulled and set the anchor quick link tite and everything. U could se where the trap fired and blew the peat moss out but that is it. No catch circle no tracks nothing. What do yall think happened. I'm still scratching my head on this one

had the same thing happen. It was a 2 legged turd that took mine. People that dont trap are perplexed by a cable anchor, they usually hook em to a truck or atv and snatch em up.

This is on private property and only one way in. No vehicle tracks besides mine either.I mean the whole rig was gone. Cable and all.I dug around and didn't se the cable sticking out anywhere.I thought maybe the cable got cut on a rock cause it's real rocky but after I drive them I snatch the trap 2 or 3 times real hard and if the cable was rock cut it would have come out when I went to set the anchor. I just can't figure this one out at all.

No catch circle = person . No animal alive but a man will pull it out and not flop around some.

I had the exact same thing happen. I dug it up and found my pogo almost 2 feet down. I also remember “setting the stake”. Ferrule failed. I dont know if a yote or a deer is wearing my 550 or if a person saw it and decided to take it. Definitely a crappy feeling.

Some one took it. since there is no sign that a 4 leg animal did it.

I staked another trap right where that one came up missing after scratching my head for about 20 minutes about how that could happen. I also have another trap about 10 foot away from that one because it's a good location and I catch k9's there every year.after season I'm gonna take a shovel and dig down and se if I can find the wolf fang without the cable. I'm starting to think that's what happened. The ferrule failed or the cable got cut on a rock some dang how. Maybe the cable was cut plum neer into or the ferrule was just about to slip and when I set the anchor it just wasn't enough to let it go but the first initial jump of a yote it just turned loose! It still just perplexes me. I switched from rebar to cable stakes about 5 years ago and have never had anything like this happen

2 legged varmint. Call the warden.

Few years back I walked up to a set which had a catch circle. Trap and cat were Mia. The hound and I spent awhile trying to track it. Went back the next day and snapped someone took the cat and the trap because the earth anchor was dug out.

My most recent trap was taken behind a locked gate on private property. It took the owner to put out word that the trap needed to reappear. Suddenly it appeared tied to the gate going into the property. There were tire tracks that werent mine near the trap, but no footprints. They took the time to brush out their footprints.

The only way into where I have those sets is past both my brothers houses. They also have cameras. I could check the cameras but I highly doubt someone took it. It was a flat set well blended and the other set is a trench set that sticks out like a sore thumb. If someone could find that flat set so well blended and steal it I dnt se why they wouldn't have found that trench set right beside it and got it too.its a bad deal all the way around but I would actually rather someone stole it than it be on a yotes foot out running around somewhere.I just really dnt think anyone would have gone in there and got that trap but wouldn't be the first time I been wrong

We got a bad batch of cable stakes from a dealer this year that apparently weren’t crimped well enough. We pulled up on a coyote and as he lined to get away from us the cable pulled loose from the crimp, and he ran off wth our trap on his foot. We thought this was a fluke deal, but A couple days later we had an empty trap bed and found our trap a little ways in the timber with the cable pulled free at the crimp. We decided to pull all our traps to avoid any further loss. While pulling the traps the only cables that didn’t come loose at the crimp were the ones we literally dug out. We weren’t very happy, by the time we had gotten them all pulled we had ruined almost half our cable stakes, and had lost 2 mb550’s and 2 coyotes

How old was the cable for your anchor had it been boiled along with your trap ?
Dig down 15 inches and see if your cable end/fang is still there if you see no tracks and on private property Its possible the cable end failed? Just saying it happened to me and I went to chain.

I lost one a week ago when a superstake pulled up. Mine had a catch circle and another yote in a trap 20 foot away. I would have had a double but ended up losing an mb550 instead.

I caught a coyote one year and during the remake I realized my cable had rusted heavily at the loop where I have it crimped onto chain. Nearly every strand was broken except 2 or 3.

Problem with that theory, or a ferrule failure, or stake not holding etc etc is lack of a catch circle. I can't think of a failure that would happen quickly enough that there was no sign of an animal being caught.

Definitely sounds like a 2 legged thief. Maybe a dog walker...maybe a trespassing hunter or whoever. For someone to get a cable stake out, it'd almost have to be a trapper to know to pull straight up.

Just don't see how an animal was caught with zero evidence....

Well If something went wrong with the anchor there would be no catch circle. One lunge and it's gone. I would dig up the area where you staked it and see If the anchor s still In the ground.

Yea I know I just can't se how it happened.cable stake was brand new. I just cut the zip ties loose of of the bundle took it out of the truck hooked my trap to it with a quick link and drove it in.it is right off the road going to our deer camp and is alot of ground litter and hard ground so not the best place to look for tracks but I mean surely if a critter pulled it or broke the cable there would have been some kind of a sign of struggle.but there was nothing.just an empty trap bed with peat moss flung out. I could Eaven still se the imprint where my levers where in the bed.
