My 9 year old daughter asked me to take her to check traps in the morning. I told her that we will have to get up at 0500. She said to make sure that I wake her up. She went to bed at 2030. I don't care if we do not get anything. I already know I have caught the white whale.

Slow and steady. Might be winning against my Mom, the anti trapper. I got my boy, looks like my girls are good to go. They like to go on the checks.

I do not like the killing any more than they do but I am a little more seasoned. Working on that with them.

I woke her up this morning and she asked if we could do it on a day with "a little less morning". She is not much of a morning person. Heck, she goes to bed early so she can sleep longer.

She did go with me the other day. Let he take the smaller 4 wheeler. Took about twice as long to check but that was because she wanted to go exploring. Pretty sure she will be wearing boots next time.

Oh, almost forgot. Got two big coons. Yup, there were in coyote sets. Might as well, I can't seem to catch a yote to save my life.

Good job Jerry! I took my kids with me all the time growing up and yes you have to make an adventure out of it. Later, I took them back to a few places so that they could paint ball with their friends and I was amazed about how much they remembered about their time with Dad trapping at the same spots. I always use taking them out to BREAKFAST as a lure then check a few places on the way home....get them out in the woods as much as possible.

My ten year old granddaughter wants to check traps with me and said she will shoot a possum because they are ugly. Said she does not want to see me kill anything that is pretty. I plan to take her turkey hunting this spring, applied for the tag, no way I can start her on deer.
