I set the pan where I believe the animal will step. Might be offset, might be centered with the hole. Might be 9-10" back, might be tight to the hole/attractor.
When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

Trap goes dead center, pan 9" from hole, spring lever points to the hole This is how I do it because it's what I do. The 9 inches I'm not really stringent on I just set it wherever it beds best.

No mater where you place the trap the coyote Is going to step someplace else. LOL It's not so much trap placement as It Is guiding the critters foot to where the trap Is.

I do always place twig size sticks stuck in next to levers and behind dog . A small rock or even a little clump of dirt can help guide.
