Itasca County in MN. 1000 lakes and many of them have good panfish with few fishermen. Near Grand Rapids. The best I have seen went 12.5 inches. Many private and public lakes.

There's a spot not too far from you in Dunn co. We put in on northside of Lake Menomin go up river about 2 miles to the cut off, a little bay with a little island. We catch some monsters there every year during the spawn. The water's anywhere from shallow to 9-13' in the main horseshoe. My girlfriend has caught 1.5-1.75lbs up to 14" several times. Of course you get the little guys to sort thru too. Go early summer before the water turns tho. Close to home

How did your Lake Winnipeg trip work out? All,the forum members that responded to your request on lures to use, are waiting for the walleye fillets to be shipped. I'm checking my mailbox every day? LOL

We use to always head to the keys during spring break. Stayed at a place called Checca Lodge, $$$$, but there only 4 days. There are some great charters both on the gulf side and Atlantic side. Make sure you try the stone crab claws..... You want to make sure you don't splash any of the meat up on your forehead...... Your tongue will slap your brains out trying to get to it!

And he drove right past my front door and did not even leave me some trapping bait......and youget fillets. ..........What...

Bull feathers! The kind of fish you're talkin' about are called "Dixie Doodlers". They are not exactly as big as the Northern Numb Nuts strain, which must be artificially inseminated but more plentiful in the wild.

Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida used to be famous for BIG Bluegills fished on the beds. Been years since I was there, but it is the time of year when a road trip south from Wisconsin may be pleasant.

Farm ponds are the place to go. Specifically, farm ponds that don't get fished. Back when I was a kid, we knew of ponds that were "abandon" pretty far back in the woods where most wouldn't take the time to walk to or didn't know about. It was nothing to pull 11+ gills out of there all day long. Like all the other prime hunting, trapping and fishing places of my youth, most of them are all houses now.

I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

I have not fished there but have heard this same thing. If I was looking for a fishing vacation MN would be on top of the list. I think people there keep it under hat but it has some of the best hunting and fishing around.

Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime
