Had several friends that said well I wanna be a trapper. And when the days get long and the cold weather hits no one can keep up any more but this one! She only gets tired every once in a while and never wants to quit. Reminds me of myself when I was a kid tagging along with my grandpaw.allways wanting to learn and a little bit scared to ask lol.just thought I would share and start a thread of our best trapping partners.she is my only kid and a girl but she is smart and tough as any.

well she looks like a keeper. Teach her all she wants to learn and you will have some great times and a lifetime of great memories.

You are very fortunate and must be doing many things right for her to want to go along with you and have so much tenacity. Teach her to never hold back or be limited because she is a girl. Teach her that she can do anything because she is a girl.

It is amazing how much little kids learn and grow mentally and psychologically through sharing experiences and living life together. These trapping adventures that you share very well be the some of the best and most important times together. These times may be foundational that will support her in many ways for her entire life. Many guys talk about being a good father. You are being a good father. May God continue to bless you my friend!

How old is she? It is sad that little kids have to grow up and become people.

And the only thing she ask for is your unconditional love and a hug and kiss

You have the best type of trapping partner right there. Don't matter a bit that she's a girl. My trapping partners have been girls for the last twenty years! Like PCR said above, first my daughter and currently my granddaughter.

The second generation partner:

Enjoy your time with her while you can. They eventually find other interests as they get older. I figure I have a few years left with mine.

I have a back up plan; a two-year-old grandson scheduled to be my next trapping partner. grin

Eh...wot?

Yep we just have so much fun together. She is fixing to turn 6 so maybe we still have a few more years running around together left yet.

So who is entering The Bosses beaver tail contest with those flat tails ! Everyone better give up now with those entries. If she enters there should be a " little partners rule" for winning.

Great picture and a great Trapping partner. Reminds me of times I spent with my dad, only we were squirrel hunting not trapping. But still great times together.

I mentioned the contest and she was all about it but we measured the biggest one and it was only 6 and a half.I told her there have already been some real big ones entered and we needed to wait and enter one a little bigger.now every one we get she sais dad I think that one is big enough lol.all this rain we been getting has been giving us trouble. I had to pull all my water sets out of the creeks cause they keep flash flooding. And I pulled all my land sets also. Now we just got a few beaver sets out on a slew that won't flood us out so easily. But we are still having fun with it just kinda taking it easy

Her mom doesn't like that pic because she forgot her trapping hat and her hair is a mess. Here's a better one:

[Linked Image]

My youngest daughter ran the line with me until she was twenty. She still owns half the trapping equipment because it was all paid for with fur checks. She skinned almost everything we caught and I fleshed, boarded and flipped.

Kylie is soon ready to start skinning. She flips fox and coyote skins and brushes them out. She likes firing the traps when we shut down the line ahead of soggy weather. When she starts helping enough I will start sharing the fur check with her. It's a good life lesson.

I expect you have many fun years ahead of you with your daughter along. I've always tried to keep it fun and exciting for the kids. I make them pull their weight but don't let it get to grueling before they are ready.

Eh...wot?
