I’m looking at a 2000 Arctic cat powder special 500 with EFI. The sled is in mint condition with 3000 miles on it. The seller is asking $1500 for it. I’m not a snowmobile guru, but I’ve looked at enough of them to know that it’s pretty hard to come by a decent sled for that price. Anybody have any experience with this snowmobile, or any opinions on it?

Thanks!

In my opinion $1500 is to much for a sled that is almost 20 years old.by that age they have either been ridden ragged it have set around so much they need much work. Things that are overlooked are track condition, chain case oil and all rubber parts that may need replacing. Just my opinion...

Wish I had more time to trap....

Guess it depends where you live. Just recently I've seen two sleds that were build in the 1980s sell for twice that, and they certainly weren't mint!

You live in Minnesota where Arctic Cats are built.

Parts shouldn't be hard to come by.

Do you know whether it has been sitting outside all these years or in a garage ?

I could imagine the track being rotten...maybe and crankcase seals dried out. Does it fire and run ??

White----it's been inside, and has not had many miles put on it over the last few years. I won't have a chance to see it in person and drive it until Saturday, so I'll know more then.

That sounds a bit hi. I have a 2000 500zl on the block asking 1400.00 very nice shape with 2600 miles.
The fellow may have it priced up for negotiation. Snow conditions this year state wide its a buyers market.
As a comparison I just bought a 2009 RMK 600 trail with just over 2040 miles and not a blemish on the sled. Ran it long today runs perfect. 2000.00 I gave for it.
