Dang nab it I have to go open the front door now.

Go to the bank and get a 90 day note for what you need for 3 months, interest is minimal. Gov. workers can always look for a different job but they would find out it's a cruel world out there. If I was Trump I would cut 10% of every departments budget, that would get interesting.

"No government worker has ever worked without pay , ever ..........just delayed payroll , and the banks know this"

If only some of you knew half of what you're talking about. I'm an intermittent employee which means I only work when there's work. It amounts to pretty much full time...usually. Right now I'm not allowed to work on federally funded projects so I'm not getting about 20 hours a week and I WILL NOT get paid for those. Maybe some of the know it alls around here will invent a time machine so I can go back for those hours when the shutdown ends.

Do any of you rely on stream gages for trapping or fishing? The stream gages are used to regulate lock and dam, lake pools and releases so flood water can be worked smoothly downstream so it doesn’t flood someone else. River boat traffic relies on them. Towns and municipalities rely on them for flood stages and evacuation. When you see on television that the river will reach 35 feet at midnight.....that’s our stuff. Bridges are built above levels of 500 or 1000 year flood levels. I have maintained these for 34 years and even though I’m deemed the worded non essential I think many people rely on these gages daily. I know if one of the sixty I keep up goes down due to a battery or power issue, vandalism or such I get a call from someone almost immediately. It’s easy to pile on federal employeees on a computer but there’s much going on that many don’t realize they’d miss until it’s gone

Hatred of the government is the trendy thing amoung some groups. Most say they love America, but their speech and actions show that they hate Americans who do not think and vote as they do. They also hate anyone or anything that their minds can view as a target.
Most who have jobs related to the government do the job they are payed to do everyday. And most of them do it much better than the party-first fools causing this whole shutdown.

I think Trump called in the heads of departments a while ago and told them to research on ways to cut back ten percent. I don't know what came of it.
I wonder how many of these Fed workers bothered to call their reps and urge them to support this nations security and end this posturing.
Seems like a no-brainer, the request is less than one-half of one percent of budget. We send over fifty billion in foreign aid to other countries but
the media and Dems choose to hold workers hostage for political gain!

You know you are getting smoke blown up your tailpipe when you hear Democrats claiming they oppose it because it is a waste of money!

It's hard to buy into trump's claim that this isn't more a political stunt than a national security concern when one considers:

He's been president for nearly two years, and up until last week, Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress. At any point during that two years, Republicans could have passed a bill to fund the border wall, and he could have gotten at least $5.6 billion.
Republicans were ready to use the reconciliation process, allowing the Senate to pass legislation with a simple majority, to repeal and replace Obamacare. They successfully used the procedure to pass a massive tax cut. They certainly could have found a way to use it to put some money into building a border wall had Trump actually fought for it earlier in his administration.

And the above quote is taken from the right leaning Washington Examiner

Although I have empathy for those affected, I think it is crucial that we secure our borders. Even the northern border has had an increase in illegals trying to cross. If a partial gov. shutdown is what it is going to take to get it done, so be it.

I would remind everyone, that those who founded this great country, sacrificed a heck of a lot more than waiting a few weeks for a taxpayer funded paycheck .

I agree, they could and should have got it done but they squabbled over DACA and family separation and the likes of McCain and other rinos. But that was then and this is now.
As far as a political stunt, well,.everyone associated with protecting our border security have stated a wall where applicable is necessary,in combination with increased technology advancements. This immigration problem has been going on for decades,...it's time to make a real effort to curtail it!
The stunts we are seeing now are on the Dems shoulders and they're holding workers as hostage.

Do you think the dreamers who were brought here as children will be kicked out if we get the wall now---never happen, They could have had funding for the wall very easily then. It was kept in trump's magazine to be fired when he needed something to fire up his base. And it is working, those dems look like just as foolish and childish as he does.

I don't think it will happen either, but it should in my opinion.Anyone in the country illegally should be returned and have an ability to apply on merit and character record. Heck, in my opinion we should even cut down legal immigration as well. We can't take everyone in the world, I would like my children's children to be able to look over the landscape and not see pavement sea to sea.

No. On a totally unrelated topic, anyone know a good outfitter offering Yellowstone wolf hunts?
