Sorry for the loss of your best friend Next. Losing dogs is so hard, especially when it happens unexpectedly.

A new pup helps but does not replace that special place in your heart that you had for Abe. I still miss my Abby girl very much and she’s been gone 2yrs now.

just went thru this with our bells. had her for a little more than 11 years. we had to do the put down thing. so very hard. tears as i read this newt, feel your pain.

Sorry to hear this, Newt. Keep yourself as busy as you can for the next while. In time the sense of loss you feel now will be replaced by the best memories of the years you got to enjoy his companionship. With things like this nothing helps much except for time.

That’s too bad. I had a 1/4 wolf named Barkley from age 3 to 21. He was a big heavy dog in his prime who could easily handle Rottweilers and other big dogs who were brave enough to get too close to him. I watched him deteriorate until it got too hard to see. I put it down myself. Didn’t realize how much I loved that old dog.

Abe was a Padderdale.
But looked just like a Blak Lab puppy. With a bobed tail.
I thought at first glance you posted a picture of him.

Yes i have. Most of the time he never crossed it. So I did'nt put the collar on him all the time. Even when went over in the nebours yard. When their (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) was in heat.No more than 4 times in 10 years, Did Abe ever go over there. He NEVER went up to the paved road.First and only time he was up there.

I have buried many good dogs through my 70 years. I've found that as I get older it gets tougher. My sympathies.

One of the hardest things in life is to lose a beloved pet. May the grief eventually lead to beautiful memories of Abe. He will see you again at the Rainbow Bridge.

Very sad to hear Newt...Have bonded with many a 4 legged partner over the years. Miss every one of them.

I feel your pain. A year ago I was forced to put down my best friend. A year later I'm still grieving.When I think about him I tear up.He and I did everything together and I never had a more devoted friend. Perhaps it is silly, but I hope there is a Heaven for dogs and that he is up there having a good time.Boy do I miss him!.

As pet owners ...we all get a swing at it. At least you didn’t back over him with your truck...like my neighbor did. It sucks for sure .

Ugh. I'm sorry. Brutally hard. I have 2 that are close to the end, and I just can't bear it, at times.
My heart goes out to you.
